Port meth and carbon build up

Iíve been searching a few different forums for a little while and I havenít been able to quite find the answer Iím looking for. Is there anyone around here that has been running port meth for a while with comparison results for carbon build up levels? From what Iíve been able to find, port injection helps clean the valves but I personally meth is the only fueling additive/ additional fuel I really care to mess with. Iím thinking of running an oil catch can along with one of the aftermarket intake manifolds designed for port fueling. Iím not expecting this to be the end all cure but a preventative measure to prolong the time it takes between cleanings.

I ran meth injection for a bit, straight M1. The valves were nasty 10k miles after walnut blasting, but the intake runners were clean.

I've since switched to PI running straight e85 and added bms low and high side occ kits, but not enough miles to see. I think this is the best solution available at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. E85 isn’t as prevalent as I would like where I live to justify the cost/ time for the conversion. I Are you also running an oil catch can? I’ve seen mixed results on if they help or not.

With the N54 design I believe an OCC helps a bunch. Some of the before/after pictures were startling.

I’ll have to give it a try. I just can’t believe there isn’t a solution for this yet.

Didn’t some guy run valve cleaner through his meth kit to clean his valves with good results?

No sorry, it was something I read, on one of the forums, with a title similar to this. I have looked for it. No dice.

i remember he used to run the cleaner every 3 or 4 tanks of meth. And never had to blast valves again.

Do you remember how he was introducing meth into the system? Lie through a charge pipe or directly into the intake manifold?

Through his meth kit, it was a while ago I found the thread, and it was old then, so, I’m assuming charge pipe meth. Straight into his meth tank, it might of been a mix he made.

Any petroleum based product will work, but will your components hold up? Running gas, like all port injected cars, will work fine.
