Dinan is back! Flash tune your BMW with a factory matched warranty

Finally! Remember when Dinan was acquired by Performance Driven Brands back in early 2018? Then remember when Performance Driven Brands was restructured by Sentinel Capital Partners? Well both Dinan and APR now work under the same halo and even out of the same facility in Opelika, Alabama.

The relationship with APR is rubbing off well. Why? Because Dinan is now flash tuning again and offering a warranty. You know, like the early days?

Remember when BimmerBoost called out Steve Dinan for hypocrisy? And when Steve Dinan responded? The BimmerBoost reasoning being that Dinan went from criticizing piggybacks to suddenly embracing them. The truth is Dinan just could not flash tune modern BMW's and it was a money grab. He sold the company shortly after and Steve Dinan is not at the helm today.

Dinan created the Dinantronics piggyback box which, well, BimmerBoost was not a fan of. It was overpriced and underperformed.

While Dinantronics still exists on certain engine platforms but by trading in your Dinantronics box you can get credit towards real flash tuning from Dinan.

The APR relationship is really playing a key role as APR is helping with diagnostics, dealers, development, you name it. You do not have to worry about Dinan disappearing but only getting better and better going forward with massive engineering resources.

The Dinan warranty is back as well. You will see Dinan focusing on products that are emissions compliant including tunes, intakes, suspension, etc. Do not expect to see things like catless downpipes but do expect CARB and EPA compliance.

Dinan is finally back to being relevant in the BMW tuning scene and you will see a follow up thread on their S55 offering (with E85 capability) shortly.

Good, because buying a BMW piggyback that is not from BMS makes no sense at this point in time. However, they may be able to carve out a nice little niche in the flash tune market with that warranty.

It's essentially an APR level approach in the BMW world. It's going to be huge.

I saw Noelle Performance also matches the factory warranty on their flash tunes as well but I haven't heard of anyone with their flash tune yet.

hell yes that’s what I’m saying. Dinan is suffering financially that’s why they had to sell to a hedge fund. Hedge funds buy struggling companies with a goal of pumping them back to life by restructuring which is a business-y way of saying cut costs by firing people and leveraging heavily on the companies existing strengths. For Dinan that was it’s relationship with BMW hence the dinan certified dealerships and it being known in the tuner community as the only brand with a warranty.

Personally I think the game has moved on and they are too late to the table. But If Dinan could get BMW to run diagnostics on all cars that come in for service to see if they can detect higher than stock boost and then threaten to void warranties unless customers switch over to a dinan warrantied product, then they could make some coin.

Good, because buying a piggyback controller feeding false values to a BMW DME never ever made any sense.

    Fixed it for you.

Piggybacks made plenty of sense when there were no flash tunes available for years on many of these turbo BMW platforms, and the JB4 is still useful for adding additional features like port injection and meth control, or getting around boost limitations that are hard-coded into the DME (i.e. cannot be raised by changes to tables we are currently aware of).

They are making outrageous false claims of 830Hp and 780ftlbs with their flash tune and it being on the BMWBlog webpage is unreal
