The BimmerBoost app is no longer supported + Why I sold it

The BimmerBoost app was not in active development for a while now and the reason being is that in order to continue development it would take paid, professional programmers.

Now, the idea of open source community support is nice but in reality people just rip you off or try to sell what you have developed. There are no friends in this business and there are no people who work for free. Plus, I do not expect anyone to work for free. People have their own lives to maintain and that is how it goes.

The BimmerBoost app succeeded in what it was designed to do which was provide a free flashing solution for all of you and to prevent Shiv from, well, bending you all over. It did that for numerous years.

It's time simply passed and the options were to sell it to Asian sources continually trying to get it, invest in development to compete with the paid solutions on the market meaning it would no longer be free, or sell it to an established source who could make better use of some of the things in there many of you are not aware exist.

I decided rather than have a cheap Chinese knockoff steal market share from everyone it was better to support those who already support the board and community.

So, the BB app is officially shelved. You can of course play with the old versions to your heart's content and experiment with it as much as you want at your own risk. You will have to rely on the community for support but do not expect it. Go to the paid options for professional support.

Thank you to everyone who helped.

Bully for the try, but without community support, success was an outside possibility at best. Your and Trevor's effort is greatly appreciated and respected.

But who owns it now, MHD?

I'm not allowed to go into details.

Rest in peace bimmer boost app. MHD is a great alternative, and it's only $79 to use it to load a JB4 back end flash map so not exactly expensive. Click here to enlarge
