9A2B6 3.0 power gain with external wastegate?

Can anyone back up or clarify this claim by Vektor? @3DMetal?

That does look like a Tial external wastegate.... that should free up a good chunk of power and add noise.

+ An external wg allows you to run more stand alone turbo options.

+ An external can give you better control over a larger range of boost targets. ( details spared ).

    - An external will not lower back pressure over an internal gate, or make more power on its own. A dump to atmosphere system like that will make some sweet noises.

Switching from the stock vacuum actuated system to a boost actuated control may increase control and boost stability over stock. It may also be very hard to program in, but there are talented tuners out there.

We ( TiAL / MIMO ) have drop in turbos for 660 whp, for the C, S, T.. 680 for the GTS, and soon ~800+ whp for all.

Prolly the last in line but good to know...Seriously I doubt it but I'm getting itchy...Almost done w upkeep the e90 for another 100k miles.

I haven't seen many pulling the plugs yet so I'm a bit skeptical as only you gents having the high power numbers. I guess time will tell....

not the numbers obviously, more than me personally I guess as the car barely has 7k miles and some extensive tests would be cool but I won't ask for the sky... How many miles do you have since the upgrade?

Just a few thousand. I don't drive the car much.

I'll probably drive it more after the headers, intercoolers, and inlets are installed and I get a retune.

I will debate this point. External WG with external dump is now dumping exhaust mass flow outside of the exhaust connected to the turbine outlet. So basically a second exhaust system. Because mass flow is reduced thorough the primary exhaust system, there is less back pressure. The turbine wheel is a back pressure multiplier. So anything you can do to reduce the back pressure seen at the turbine discharge reduces the pressure seen pre-turbine.
