ZF 8 Speed Swap into N54

    335xi.
Assuming my 6AT is on it's last leg (rough shifts full throttle 4-5, sometimes 2-3). Only a matter of time before it goes boom.

Anyone seen anything in the works for a legit ZF 8 Speed swap? Saw a thread that some dudes in Australia are apparently trying but not much info or progress reported.

Outside of the computer stuff, what do you think is necessary for it to bolt on?

There was some talk about it but the ZF 8HP45 bellhousing is apparently different:

Also it isn't the same size.

As for the Australian guys I assume you mean these guys. They do all kinds of BMW swaps: https://www.bimmerboost.com/content....into-an-E46-M3

Isn't it fairly common to use bell housing adapter plates for trans swaps? And how much of a size difference are we talking about? the 8HP50 in the new 340i is the one I would assume makes the most sense.

Not sure, but I thought even the Hellcats were using a ZF 8 Speed now. Keep seeing Car and Driver articles on how its the best auto ever, etc etc. The diagram above says 450nm (so 330ish tq)...

Yes people can use adapter plates and the 8HP50 is also used in the Z4 and Supra I think but I don't know if it fits.
