    • 2019 MKV Toyota Supra to debut this week at Goodwood - Three models expected

The long wait will finally be over this upcoming week at the MKV Toyota Supra is expected to make its production debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. If the latest rumors are true, things are looking up.

Original sub-3000 pound curb weight rumors had us thinking the new Supra would be amazing. Those rumors were quickly squashed and we quickly heard 3300+ pounds and a $65k+ price tag.

Here is some new info to chew on regarding three models:

      SZ - 4cyl, NA
      SZ-R - 6cyl, 3070lbs
      RZ - 6 cyl 3350lbs

The SZ Supra will start at $40k apparently. If so, that is nice but what will the SZ-R run? We'll find out shortly.

        SZ-R - 6cyl, 3070lbs
        RZ - 6 cyl 3350lbs

What would cause an increase of 280lbs if the engines are both single turbo'd I6's?

Unless they are planning to drop in a camry v6 into the SZ-R

One idea is that the SZ-R is a bare bones model with cloth seats, solid roof, door pulls, smaller track wheels, basically a lightweight version, and the RZ is the fully equipped and optioned version with leather, sunroof, heavier wheels, etc.

Think it said 4 cylinder NA. Or maybe they meant the weight is not available.

The iron block was still pretty unbelievable for me too but with the latest stuff from A70 and now this, I can't help but be a believer.

As Guff said, one of Tada's closest friends made a FB post about the block being iron a few days back if anyone was still on the fence. This particular individual is privy to product planning/PR and engineering efforts and generally knows this information before anyone else outside of Tada's inner circle (even myself).

I'm having a hard time believing that iron block and 3000 pounds at the same time.

Could be part of the reason why there is a 280lbs difference between SZ-R and RZ.

        That's not a bad theory.

So they hyped it up and brought a prototype... lame.
