    • RaceChip claims to get over 700 horsepower out of the new W213 Mercedes-AMG E63 S M177 V8 with their RaceChip GTS Black

RaceChip is a tuner based out of Europe that primarily deals with piggyback tuning. Considering the difficulty of modern ECU tuning we are only going to see more and more piggyback approaches. That said, a piggyback is not necessary to tune a W213 Mercedes-AMG E63 S M177 V8.

Many people like the ease of tuning with a piggyback although in the opinion of BenzBoost real flash ECU dyno tuning is the best approach for serious performance enthusiasts.

RaceChip's appeal might be to the mild 'Dinan' style tuning crowd who obsess over their warranty. RaceChip claims to provide an engine warranty, free shipping, and a 30-day money back guarantee.

So do they hit over 700 horsepower on the E63 S? According to their dyno, yes:

They claim an increase to 700 horsepower from 604 and 715 lb-ft of torque from 627 lb-ft. Their baseline shows an underrated 636.9 horsepower so they are picking up roughly 70 horses.

This is backed up with before and after 50-150 and 100-200 kph runs:

So it will roughly shave half a second from your 60-130 it looks like. Will that top a proper flash dyno tune? Not likely.

Those who are not trying to eek out every last horse and just want a simple, easy to install product will likely see appeal.

you mean it'll shave 0.5s from your 100-200km/h, no?

No I was ballparking 60-130 for US guys.

Unfortunately RaceChip doesn't do 60-130 runs.
