    • 1000+ whp N54 era is here - Motiv Motorsport takes the E90/E92 335i overall power record with 978 whp pull

As you know a new power record was recently set in the N54 tuning sphere with a 938 whp pull by an AD-E built N54. While technically a record this was not a boost only pull. Nitrous assisted the run.

That is what makes this Motiv pull and new overall record so impressive. It was done boost only:

We needed a tune that would allow us to power through the 1/2 mile event and keep the car performing as it has been - this meant keeping torque low in order to get moving and keep traction. So we set up a "low boost" tune at around 27-28psi to start with at the event, a "medium boost" tune around 32-33psi and then an "all the boost" tune to possibly play with if we can keep traction (still running 17s).
Now, to be fair they did top 1000 whp technically but take a look at how choppy the graph is:

Now look at the pull with Smoothing set to 5:

They are revving it out to 8k rpm and it's basically tapped out:

What this really signifies is the 1000 whp N54 era is essentially here.

Congratulations to Motiv and everyone involved.

Why is the dyno chart so choppy?

There are several charts. The choppy one is unsmoothed.

It may be unsmoothed but it seems abnormally choppy. I'm talking about one they posted on FB.

Congrats! Hope to join you soon!

It's going to be a challenge getting the power down the 1/2 mile safely. Definitely 17" Hoosier drs. Start slow and build up. Something like 12psi 1st gear, 14psi 2nd gear, 20psi 3rd gear, and then by 4th and 5th you should be OK for full power unless the misfire gods strike. And be sure to have a Dragy or VBOX in the car recording so we know where the 1/2 mile record is when you set it.

PS. On the "1000whp" dyno it's just dyno oscillation. It's hard to get accurate readings on no-load dynojets when the run only lasts a few seconds. The smoothing option though filters it out. Looks like a legit 980whp. Wish they'd post more details on the build but I guess it's under wraps for now. Click here to enlarge

I completely forgot this was on a dynojet. Makes sense. I really hate dynojets for anything other than comparisons, and even then, I'd never own one. Glad some people will though haha.

        amazing, nice work!

Specs on build. Most interested in the little stuff that had to be done, different than normal mods/ builds, to get this to happen. Cams? hours of VANOS tuning? Fueling details (injectors, HPFP solution), etc,

This is so close to 1000 whp that it's almost going to be anti-climatic when that ceiling is broken now (will probably happen later this week anyway, lol).

I came across the owner of the red E90 that set the previous 'record' on IG and he claimed that the 938whp dyno was not Nitrous assisted.

Well I spoke to him and AD-E and both said nitrous was active for the runs...

That's what can be frustrating with this platform sometimes. Misinformation this, misinformation that, 'flexing' this or that, etc.

Not to mention the "secrets", lol. Everyone wants to try and one up one another as if we're not all BMW enthusiasts wanting to see the platform succeed.

I think based on the turbocharger and other results plus the pics of the nitrous setup and the confirmation of it being used we pretty much are led to the logical conclusion the run was nitrous assisted.

The fact it was like pulling teeth to get them to confirm further reinforces it in my mind.

That would make sense then considering I came across him about a night or two after the results were posted. It was in a video where he was racing the "Grey Hound" 135i; arguments ensued.. talks of the dyno came up.. the usual Instagram flexing & $#@! followed, lmao.

It is what it is, the truth inevitably comes forth.

        A half-mile car, impressive!
A cross country car, I would think not.

Yep, saw on Spool Street last weekend and was impressed. Think a few people complained it was std and not sae tho. Stating sae would bring it down closer to 940 range or something. Either way very impressive, I mean over 900whp for 2k rpms is awesome. lol
