    • The Dodge Demon lives up to the hype - World's quickest 1/4 mile production car, larger 2.7 liter blower, 840 horsepower

The Demon had some tall shoes to fill considering how much Dodge hyped the car. They would trickle out detail over detail over weeks but the wait is finally over. The 2018 Dodge Demon Challenger is here and it is the quickest production car in the world in the 1/4 mile.

9.65 @ 140.09 miles per hour. The run is NHRA certified. This means you can grab a Demon, pull up next to a Ferrari LaFerrari, and lay waste to it. That is assuming the LaFerrari stays on street tires as with drag rubber the 149 mile per hour Ferrari would likely win. Still, Dodge holds the production street car world 1/4 mile record with a car a fraction of the cost.

What is the cost? Well, the MSRP has yet to be released. It will be more cash but you get a larger 2.7 liter twin screw blower (up from 2.4), even stronger engine internals, drag rubber at all four corners, flared fenders, 840 horses, 770 lb-ft of torque, a race gas mode, dragstrip tools, etc.

No, it does not make the rumored 1000+ horsepower but you better believe it will with bolt on modifications.

The way to think about the Demon is that Dodge gives you a Hellcat prepped for the drag strip with less weight, a drag tuned suspension, drag rubber, drag tools, a larger blower, stronger internals, more power, and a race gas tune. All with a warranty.

      What's not to like?

Holy $#@! do those fender flares look terrible. I mean, I applaud Dodge for doing something crazy like this. But the whole thing feels very gimmicky, from the way they dragged the rollout, to this stupid thing with all these cute marketing phrases like "Drag Mode", "Weight Transfer Suspension", "Power Crate", "Race Gas Button", "Super Special Tool Kit", "Oooh look, no seats!". They might as well glue a Knight Rider "LED Power Light" on the front too.

I don't know - I kind of dig how they went about it. They maybe teased it a bit too long - I got bored over time. But I love that they picked a niche and went after it in kill mode - line lock, drag tires, different fuel modes, etc. pretty sweet. They knew they couldn't compete with a GT350R or Z28, so they decided to crush the quarter mile. Pretty brilliant IMHO.

I agree. It's very cool for what it is.

totally agree... in a time where most manufacturer are focusing on emissions and mpg, dodge went old-school muscle car and brought some intrigue to domestic market.... I haven't been this close to wanting to buy domestic over german car ever

and the fact that they are putting a hellcat motor in a awd jeep is just awesome! I was thinking about getting GLE63s as second car ( need suv in addition to car) but now I think it has to be jeep trackhawk as I love the idea of modding it to 1000hp surf safari/ jet ski hauler Click here to enlarge
