    • Cadillac CT5-V expected to gain LT4 supercharged 6.2 liter V8 power

A CTS-V successor? It seems that way but this makes you scratch your head considering the LT4 V8 already was utilized and Cadillac has a 4.2 liter twin turbo Blackwing V8 waiting on deck. Why the LT4?

Because it apparently fits. Why the new V8 will not fit has not been stated.

Why not go LT5? Apparently because people at GM do not think.

The new model is already shaping up to be outgunned and outdated.

I think there was some concern with how wide the Blackwing is, being a DOHC engine that it would not fit the alpha-2 platform. It could be that GM is relying on the 10-spd to help improve performance as opposed to just throwing more power at it. It's also not mentioned whether the top-of-the-line performance model (CT5-V+ or whatever they are going to call it) will get AWD or not.

Seems like a fail to develop a new V8 and it doesn't fit. Did somebody forget to talk to somebody?

If they stick an LT5 in it, cool. If not, yawn.

It does, however I don't think this will be the last time we see that motor. It doesn't make a lot of financial sense to develop a brand new engine to use it in one car that got a limited run of 500 cars. I was similarly concerned with the LF4 in the ATS-V, but it sounds like it's going to live on in the top trim CT4-V. Hopefully that car will be popular enough to help further open up the aftermarket on it. I would love some upgraded turbos for mine.

The LF4 might as well die. The CT4-V would be way more interesting with an LT1.

I 100% agree. I think the ATS-V would have been the perfect car had it gotten the LT1. But I think they will leave it with the LF4 since all of it's competition (with the exception of the C63 AMG) has a turbo-6. The spy videos seem to collude this, as it is most definitely a V6 exhaust note.

The CT4 will absolutely need to have AWD if it is going to keep up with the G80/G82.

Yeah GM is run by idiots...
They need to put the LT5 in the CT5-V R or whatever they will call it.

They say the Blackwing won't be in any more cars which is absolutely astounding...it deserves to be in an Escalade and/or CT5-V sized car.

But if they stay pushrod they can't give it the same old tiny 1.7L TVS blower. If it gets a 10 speed that will be a worthy upgrade over the V3 CTS-V though as basically the only complaint is the 8 speed issues with shuddering etc.

There is a guy on the forums who works on airbags for GM and he helped design the ones for the CT5-V and says they will be offering it at least with a Manual transmission which is nice. The auto has paddle shifters on the wheel and the manual doesn't.

That is what I thought/hoped but they say it won't be. They say the high performance Escalade will be a supercharged 6.2L pushrod...basically the same old LT4 from the Z06/Zl1. Probably it will be exactly the same engine as whatever ends up in the CT5-V.

Cadillac in general just really doesn't know what they are doing. Mis-managed into oblivion, no corporate vision, flip flopping on naming, releasing half ass V models diluting the brand, etc etc. It is sad. They could have been killing it but they $#@!ed it all up

        Seriously, I don't get it.

        Does GM like to fail?
