    • BMW F92 M8 Competition tops Porsche 992 Carrera S, 718 Cayman GT4, BMW F87 M2 CS, and GR Supra around the track

The new BMW M8 certainly is impressing with straightline performance which is not hard to believe. The performance around the track however and the time set against some very quick cars is indeed much harder to believe.

Keep in mind this is a ~4200 pound all wheel drive automatic vehicle with most of its weight on the nose. BMW worked some serious magic for Sport Auto to independently achieve this time at the Hockenheim GP circuit on Pirelli P Zero tires:

      Lamborghini Huracán Evo: 1.49,0 min
      BMW M8 Competition: 1.53,1 min
      Porsche 911 Carrera S (992): 1.53.3 min
      Porsche 718 Cayman GT4: 1.55,0 min
      BMW M2 CS: 1.55.8 min
BMW M2 Competition (Semi): 1.57,6 min
Audi TT RS Performance: 1.57.7 min
      Toyota GR Supra: 1.58,8 min
      BMW Z4 M40i: 1.59,5 min
      Porsche 718 Boxster T (PDK): 1.58,8 min
      Mercedes-AMG A45 S 4Matic +: 2.00,7 min

The power helps hide the heft on the larger GP circuit but edging the new Carrera S is no joke. Not to mention the much lighter and track focused BMW F87 M2 CS. The M8 certainly is not a one dimensional car.
