    • Top Gear Ferrari 488 Pista vs. McLaren 600LT drag race

The more Ferrari 488 Pista comparison videos, the better. Now the 600LT from McLaren is not the Pista rival. The Pista is a direct response to McLaren kicking dirt in Ferrari's face with the McLaren 720S.

The 600LT is positioned below the 720S (which does not yet have an LT variant) yet it is absolutely rapid in its own right.

It is certainly interesting to see how the 600LT does and while Top Gear does not provide any data (or laptimes) they do a drag race.

What happens? The Pista wins although it is fairly close. This is to be expected as the Pista is just shy of the 720S in the 1/4 mile and the 600LT obviously is not going to top the 720S.

Chris Harris says 65,000+ pounds buys you more performance but you can spend a couple grand for a nice custom tune and blow the Pista away if that is your thing without spending 65,000+ pounds.

He does ultimately choose the 600LT as the better driver's car.

Skip to the 4:50 mark for the race.

Good comparison, Id still like to see the actual mechanical differences between the 600lt vs 720s.

If you mean in the drivetrain really the main difference is the M840T vs. the M838T.

So its just a slightly bigger version of the 600s motor? No bigger turbos, or other differences?

Well sure, that's what I mean. A new engine platform with new turbos, tuning, cooling, etc.
