    • The Corvette C8.R motor is a 5.5 liter DOHC flat-plane crank naturally aspirated V8 and it will go in a street legal model

It looks like we may have a true 911 GT3 challenger. The recently debuted C8.R Corvette race car points toward a street version and we now know what is under the hood. How does a high revving 5.5 liter flat-plane crank naturally aspirated direct injected V8 sound?

It sounds like what a Ferrari should be. What a weird world it is where Americans are producing high revving naturally aspirated flat-plane crank V8's and the Italians aren't.

As for output, the motor is obviously restricted in race trim. It is easily capable of 500+ horsepower and 480+ lb-ft of torque. What is the redline? Who knows.

No word on what the street version of the motor will be called but the important thing to know is that it is coming. Who else wants one?

Ford GT350 5.2L NA flat plane crank
        redline 8,250 rpm
        526hp
        429tq

looks like 5.5L will have more torque but that makes me think it won't rev up to 8,250rpm...

I would bet it will be higher compression and rev higher.

We don't have the final specs but that is what I would expect for a new high revving NA V8 in 2020.

If Ferrari got 597 horsepower out of 4.5 liters Chevy should be able to do better. 600+ hp motor, count on it.

It really sucks that a factory backed ford gt or ferrari won't be around to challenge this.

This is Fords last season and Ferrari's factory team rizi competition hasn't been active this season(last year too i think). Btw, i need your email so i can share a bunch of photos I took at the lime rock round of the IMSA series this summer. They literally let you see the cars naked.
