    • Tesla taking the EV performance lap record battle to Porsche on their home turf at the Nurburgring - Elon Musk sends Model S to Germany

Well, the EV performance battle between Tesla and their Model S and the new Porsche Taycan is heating up. You may recall Tesla made a big deal about setting the Laguna Seca production EV sedan lap record except of course it was not a production Model S currently available that they utilized.

The Porsche Taycan holds the production electric sedan Nurburgring lap record with a 7 minute and 42 second lap. Tesla is gunning for this record.

Apparently Tesla is not able to rent the Nurburgring this year so they are testing it during public track days which is fine.

Elon Musk continues to take shots at Porsche in this friendly rivalry as you can see in his Tweets.

Will he take the EV sedan lap record from Porsche? Well, the Model S is known to go into limp mode on the track and is not exactly a car that will do lap after lap.

Tesla will likely use their new 'Plaid' triple motor drivetrain to accomplish their goal. It will be fun to see them push Porsche who does not like to lose. Especially on the Nurburgring which is considered Porsche territory.
