    • Tuned Ferrari 812 Superfast GPS results (with flawed Dragtimes analysis) - 60-130, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, 0-60, etc.

      This is the same Ferrari 812 Superfast that is popping up all over the place as of late. Dyno Spectrum tuned this car and managed to pull 712 rear wheel horsepower out of it. The owner took it to the track and set the 812 Superfast record with a 10.47 @ 136.15 pass in the 1/4 mile.


      Magazine times for the 812 Superfast are inflated so it is good to get some real world independent data.

      In addition, here is some GPS Dragy data:


      0-60 - 3.07
      1/8 - 6.92 @ 108.11
      60-130 - 6.70
      0-130 - 9.77
      1/4 mile - 10.54 @ 135.82

      Since the whole slip was not posted previously from the owner's 1/4 mile run it is nice to have additional numbers along with the 60-130 of 6.70.

      That is very quick for a naturally aspirated car and the 812 Superfast certainly moves.

      The reasoning in the video below regarding gains is flawed however as they estimate the car picks up over 80 wheel horsepower from a 630 baseline that was never posted. The car showed 660 wheel with cat bypass pipes and you can not guess that bypass pipes add 30 whp plus you do not know where in the rev range the ECU is adjusting for them anyway or how much it is adjusting. Bypass pipes have even been known to lose power on a stock tune with modern cars. Poor analysis from Brooks at Dragtimes.

      Throw that nonsense out and you have some good data.

        Definitely some flawed logic applied with the 900hp headline. Furthermore, making only 660 with mods made it clear that this car is nowhere near the claimed output of 789hp stock. It looks like the pista is the only car Ferrari has provided accurate engine output for.
