    • Papadakis Racing 2020 MKV Supra B58B30C engine teardown on the way to building a 1000+ hp version

This is awesome to see so early in the MKV Supra B58 tuning stage considering the cars just hit the streets. Papadakis Racing has the goal of building a 1000+ horsepower MKV Supra and you should not doubt that they will eventually get there.

The process is going to be fun to watch for Toyota and BMW enthusiasts alike.

This is a video a little over 14 minutes but well worth the time for B58 enthusiasts. You get to see what you are working with from the factory and what will be involved in beefing the motor up.

Sounds pretty good when he pulls away at the end of the video.

This engine seems to be pretty beefy from the factory. It’ll be interesting to see how it responds to bigger turbos, more boost etc...

Tuners are saying high rpm breathing will be limited. The s58 is the real show...

1000whp? Seeing as the N54 is not there yet I doubt it.

It's just a newer N55 which is rather neutered compared to the N54. BigBoost stage 3 kit made 700whp max so what they need to make 800whp to claim roughly 1k hp?

1st 1000whp supra will be with an engine swap. Mark my words.

I guess the nice thing is the exhaust manifold should be dead simple for a top or bottom mount turbo. Going to have to redo the intake manifold and add a real intercooler etc.

Actually it is a B58, quite different from the N series with closed deck block and dual zone block and head cooling just for starters.

I think he will have to go to a S58 to get close to 1K HP as single HPFP will not cut it and exhaust manifold alone will require a complete redesign and intake will require a larger charge cooler.

Impressed if he gets to 650 HP at crankshaft on 93 pump.

Are they saying this because of the internal exhaust manifold design?

I think 1000whp will be very possible and soon. Being a supra its a tuner car. You have shops like ams getting involved and papadakis doing this aswell. These are shops with backgrounds in building high hp cars. They will do the RD to get this where it they want it. It will also help other models like the n54 get more successful because of the similarity. No one in the bmw tuner scene is truly giving it their all. Possibly due to lack of funding or interest. Any motor can be made great you just need the work to put into it. skys the limit. The amount of machine work available in this day and age is remarkable. Just look at how far the gtr has hone because people want more. That supra badge draws people and will draw tuners and shops to make it go furthervand faster because there is a genuine interest in it.

Actually some engines have VERY hard limits based on their design and throwing money will not fix the flaws unless you want a new block. Examples from recent BMW engines: S65 & B47

        1000whp will be possible.

1 Bigass turbo, maybe 1 turbo on each exhaust port- 2 turbos, add some nitrous and see what breaks. Fix and repeat.

Needs a set of MILVs! ha.

Nitrous is like cocaine for engines. It is a crutch that only creates more problems long term.

It's not fair to say this. All depends on how it is tuned/used.

Possible with a crappy power range maybe unless they are able to really rev it out...

I mean an n54 should be able to hit 1000whp but it still has yet to. Same recipe you gave the supra basically. Same recipe for any engine. You need a turbo(s) that flow enough Lb/min to hit a whp number. The key is keeping everything together.
