    • BimmerBoost member runs 8.4@165 in his turbo M50 swapped E30 setting a new 1/4 mile record

      This E30 belongs to BimmerBoost member @djborya and he just keeps on improving his times. It is hard to call this an E30 a street car as it has a powerglide swap but it retains the factory BMW suspension in the front and back along with the factory body panels.

      Weight is stripped out but the E30 floor panels remain.

      The motor is an M50 with an S50US crank and Precision 76/85 turbocharger.

      Whether you want to call this a dedicated drag car or not is up to you. It holds the quickest pass for a BMW that retains the factory suspension (obviously springs, shocks are modified) design to date.

        If i'm not mistaken 93siro, he's been running that M50 for quite some time..

        and Sticky, i'm under the impression it's a EURO S50 crank and not a S50US

        I am using s50 US crankshaft wich is 86.4mm stroke. And as far as how many motors does it take to go low 8 seconds in a full body BMW powered BMW with stock suspension, it takes as many as needed. I dont give up or part my $#@! out because a motor failed, that is what sets me apart from the rest.

        @djborya, that's the right spirit.

        I just boosted a rod out the side of my M52 build yesterday Click here to enlarge

        I've already got a M50 block in the trunk of my Escalade waiting to assemble...

        1.1bar of boost with a 50/50 mix of Methanol of 95RON put me at 637whp and 515wnm

        i tuned for "high" boost on a button and i guess the dyno i used for tuning didn't load it as much as it got on the road.

        Meth is a helluva' fuel, with only 1.4bar i got 812whp and 633wnm, but looking at the log of the pull out on the road it seems that the wastegate DC is off as it spiked a bit on boost..

        Lesson learned is to always tune on a loaded dyno when tuning over 800hp on a sensitive setup!

        Have you got any experience in as to differences in S50US and M54 crankshafts?

        S50US cranks are unique to the s50us motors. Only one close to it in a m54 is a 89mm stroke 3.0 crank (same as U.S. S52) those are great for low rpm street engines but do not survive high rpm use.
