    ARP head stud isses

I have heard about some issues with these studs being too short and stripping out the block. Has anyone had any experience with this? And how many of you are running these without issue?

There was a thread on one of the FB groups about it already. Basically OTS studs don't have enough threads on them and you need custom studs or buy some from one of the engine builders, that can source the correct ones.

Hmmm. I know ARP is the leading high performance nut and bolt people providing hardware for all the top racing classes and I doubt they would make such a mistake. But that's why I want to get REAL feedback from people running these.

Trust me I called them. The guy even told me the bolts were too short. What I don't understand is why they made the stud wrong in the first place and why do privateers have to go through engine builders to get the correct part.

I have the OTS studs. Trust me, they do not go all way down in the hole. About 1/2" short.

Oh thanks. Not familiar with all the acronyms on the forums. So would ARP hardware be considered "off the shelf" or is that stuff from a local hardware or parts store?

Pretty sure he is referencing the Off The Shelf hardware at ARP. Aka, whats listed on their site or catalog already. Those are too short. You need a custom length from APR and may need to contact an engine builder to obtain custom length ARP (or potentially another company's) studs.

as far as i understand they haven't actually made an N54 stud specifically, which is the problem.

    Bingo

Just like VAC sells ARP rod bolts for an n54, but, they are actually for an e46

Exactly. I spoke with someone at ARP yesterday about this.
