Iroz Motorsport sets quickest VW MQB platform pass with a 10.2@131 MKVII Golf R 1/4 mile

Remember back in February when Iroz Motorsport ran 136.6 miles per hour in their MKVII Golf R setting the fastest record on the platform? They were able to shave the elapsed time down to 10.384 a month later which made for the quickest pass on the platform.

Well, now they have the time down to 10.236 seconds. You may be asking, why the drop in trap speed to 131? The reason for this is they let out past 1000 feet as the track was not happy with how quickly the car was running without a cage.

This is of course a DSG car with a Dodson upgraded transmission.

It is pretty clear this is a 9-second MKVII Golf R. Keep in mind this 10.2 pass was done in Las Vegas in 4800+ foot density altitude. When they take it to a sea level strip and do not let out... well, use your imagination.

Doesnt matter how many times I see it has to do with a Golf, I still think of an old Iroc-Z Camaro when I see their name.

Definitely the company to go to for big hp. So tempting, but not sure I want to put this much into a $40,000 Golf

exactly why you get a used one, if you are going to build the engine, upgrade motor mounts, replace the fuel pump and maybe the lines, upgrade the suspension, replace exhaust, and wheels/tires, then get the cheapest clean title car you can get and go from there....The cheapest DSG one on car gurus is still $31K not cheap by any means...so it might need a few more years...

I already bought a new one. I'm on the fence about taking it any further than "stage 2"

Well I might go bigger turbo (R460 Loba), but I don't think I'll ever get crazy and go the built motor + large turbo route.

You can get plenty out of the stock motor.

450 awhp seems to be the limit on the stock motor.
