Official Audi RS5 Images and Details

Audi is out the change the game, of course, with the new RS5. So, let’s take a look at the specifications that have been taken from the “accidentally leaked” brochure of the upcoming Ingolstadt warrior. The wide-bodied two door is anticipated to sport a modified version of the V8 of the now defunct RS4. So, the car will be powered by a 4.2L V8 pushing out approximately 450HP – a full 30HP over the B7 RS4 and the V8 model of the R8 sportscar – coincidentally, about 30 horsepower over the 4.0L V8 of the M3.

This boosted power figure, in part, has been created by the two enormous air boxes sitting just behind the front air dam. In terms of a redline, the RS5 runs out of juice at 8,200 RPMs and is regulated by a dual clutch transmission with 7 forward gears. Rumor has it that the RS5 will not have the option for a traditional 6-speed manual – though this has yet to be confirmed.

Those engine specs are also not confirmed, just the leading rumor. Only pics were leaked.

One thing is for sure, it does a high revving engine. It sounds great in the ring testing videos.

The engine specs are accurate. The redline and such give it away, it is the same old 4.2 liter... not even a higher redline. I thought they were going to do 8500 or maybe 8700 and open some eyes.

It isn't enough to take on the M3 performance wise but it is beautiful and well done all around. Wish they used a twin turbo V8 as the AWD is going to kill the extra HP. It will probably dyno around what an M3 dynos.

The 4.2-liter V8 remains naturally aspirated, but its breathing has been improved to bring the maximum output up to 450 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The power peak comes up at 8,250 rpm, just shy of the 8,300 rpm redline, and maximum torque is delivered throughout the range between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. The RS5 comes out the factory with the ability to accelerate to 62 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds on the way to a governed top speed of 155 mph. Owners that wish to exceed that speed can have the governor unlocked, enabling a terminal velocity of 174 mph.

If Audi can't deliver these models it just goes to show they can't play worldwide with the big boys and should not considered on BMW, Mercedes, or Porsche's level.

True to a certain extent... most of the euro manufactures play this game. M3 CSL for example. But Audi seems to be the one that pisses me off the most!! (RS5, RS6, S3, etc....)

CSL is different though, more along the lines of a GT3RS.

This would be more akin to not receiving the M6. Audi has a repeat pattern.

This vehicle is an incredible achievement for Audi. It shows that Audi is much better than BMW in Naturally Aspirated Motors which is why BMW has now given up and gone to Forced Induction to not have to compete with Audi who has overtaken them.

This vehicle makes more power than the M3 it is superior and will also be much faster when it is raining or snowing.

The interior is much better than BMW.

Hopefully this vehicle does not come to the United States as it will cost BMW many M3 sales in the United States. That is most likely why Audi will not bring it.
