Dodson set to release 800+ lb-ft of torque capable BMW DCT (dual clutch transmission) upgrades

Dodson is tackling the BMW DCT market and is set to release a bevy of upgrade parts for the BMW DCT transmission including clutch pack shims, two different type of clutch kits, frictions plates, and associated hardware. These upgrades will be available for every BMW with the DCT transmission. Yes, that means the E9X M3 and E9X 335 models. It also means the new F10 M5 and F12/F13 M6 models.

These models all use a variant of a Getrag DCT box. The physical proportions are the same but Getrag obviously has modified the unit over the years for greater torque capability going from the naturally aspirated E9X M3 to the V8 twin turbo F10 M5. These Dodson parts will have even greater capability with two clutch sets currently listed one for 800 lb-ft of torque and the second for over 800 lb-ft.

BimmerBoost will be testing out some of these Dodson parts in the BimmerBoost.com M3. Will Dodson succeed where SSP Performance failed? We will find out shortly but considering Dodson's stellar reputation it certainly looks like it.

Pricing has yet to be announced but as soon as the parts are officially available BimmerBoost will of course bring you the details.

Software will be required I think but Dodson is providing the hardware. Software solutions are up to the buyer.

I don't know for sure but the basic kit should be compatible with the OEM software. Further details will have to come from Dodson.

Someone needs to put a set of upgraded turbos or a big single turbo on a 335is with this dct upgrade. sure sounds like fun!

Driving for 50k km with FBO & RB's, not a single issue with the DCT... But would be nice as a replacement kit. DCT in sport mode does quite a good job....

This is great news! ST setup currently being installed on my 335i DCT Euro spec, was lucky to have managed to recently secure a used DCT box to run this when it is being sold.

I wouldn't touch an N54 DCT that had a piggyback on it.

Noticed I said "piggyback" and was not specific as to what piggyback. There is a "higher risk" if a piggyback was on a N54 DCT in a having premature clutch slippage or if not servere damage expecially if the preowner was an inexperienced driver of a DCT car.

We all know if you have a piggyback the TCU does not see true load which is a detrimental factor for the longevity and optimal performance of the DCT

But hey if you got a lease then go right ahead and beat it to death and let it be the next mans problem

My 335is had 42k miles on it and the DCT was as strong as day one. Had procede on it at 200 miles and the car was FBO w/ 50/50 E85/93 for the past year....

Where are you getting your facts from BQ? Also is the lease statement a jab at me? lol
