    Next Gen Murcielago (LP-700) specs

    This thing should be... insane:

f the FerrariChat tipster knows what’s what, the new Lambo will be called LP700-4. Power will be sourced from a 6.5-liter V12 good for around 700 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, mated to a seven-speed gearbox that is supposedly able to fire off shifts in just 50 milliseconds. It will take under three seconds to reach 62 miles per hour and the estimated top speed is somewhere around 217 mph. The super-light carbon fiber body will feature an F1-style rear suspension and overall weight will be reduced by about 505 pounds compared to the current Murc.

Based on the insanity that the high end aftermarket tuners are creating these days I guess it was only a matter of time before the exotic brands seriously upped the ante. Looking forward to this as well

Thank God they lightened the pig, though it's time for a new motor, the 6.5 (or variant of) has been around forever.

They did wonderful things with the motor, it's fine. Glad they aren't selling out and going turbo. The weight drop was the most important thing in my mind.

I agree, glad they stayed N/A. I'm sure they updated the motor and 700HP is no joke, but it's been around for over 25 years in one form or another. Time for a clean sheet design.

Probably is, I'm just afraid the new design will be some small displacement turbo direct injected junk.

Would be nice to see a 7.0L clean sheet N/A V12 but you're right, chances are it would amount to what you posted if they started fresh today...

    I wanna see a clean sheet twin-turbo V12 that still has a 9,000rpm red-line. Put it in the "6th Element" prototype......... 1,000hp, 2,600lbs, AWD, Down-force......

    Veyron Destroyer?

Why? A V12 is essentially two I6s mated at the crank. And since the minimum number of inline cylinders required to self cancel secondary harmonic vibration is 6, it doesnt matter how many I6s you glue together it will always be well balanced. The only thing it has to overcome at that point is friction, and I am sure they have that under control.

700 hp is beast, i cant imagine where else supercars can go. I mean $#@!, how much faster can you go? 217 mph stock, 0-60 in 3 seconds? What the $#@! else is there to do besides kill yourself?

You forgot to cite the Dec 2010 issue of Car and Driver lol. I don't think anyone ever said anything about balance or NVH. I was thinking more along the lines of B/S, valve/seat size and bore spacing. Think LT1 vs LS1.

Yea i see what you mean, LT1 = $#@!ty valve angles and LS1 = better valve and intake port angle.

BTW i dont even have that magazine...

Somewhere toward the front they cover firing angles & piston count vs balance/harmonics. Your post is almost verbatim for what they said about a V12 (being two inline 6s) LOL.

    Random.

One of the first thing they taught us in kinematics was slider crank mechanisms. And in advanced dynamics how to balance them.

Pretty much. I had been been saying it in one form or another for a while but that pretty much summed it up for me so it stuck. That and I am known amoungst my friends as being notoriously unlucky (Murphy's Law squared).
