Here is a look at the 600+ horsepower 6.2 liter twin screw supercharged Hemi Hellcat V8 - Forged pistons and rods, special block

Dodge officially revealed the 2015 SRT Challenger Hellcat yesterday and the big news is that it has a beast of a motor under the hood. A 6.2 liter Hemi V8 with a positive displacement supercharger putting out 'over 600' horsepower. How much over 600 nobody except Dodge knows at this point.

Will Dodge try to beat Ford's 662 horsepower in the Shelby GT500? Considering they are coming late to the party they really should aim to surpass Ford. Isn't that what this game is all about? Dodge may be holding off on announcing the output for the very reason of wanting to 'top' their competition and to see if Ford bumps output with the new Mustang.

So we do not know exactly what the output is but here is what we do know. The pistons and rods are forged along with the crankshaft. The blower is a twin screw unit not a roots unit which means the stock blower should be pretty efficient when boost is bumped.

This is the most powerful motor Chrysler has ever produced despite Chrysler not announcing the output. They clearly are serious about the power and torque output considering the quality of the internal components, the blower, and that they beefed up the block for boost.

It is going to be interesting to see what else they put this engine in and what the final power figure will be. What we do know is that Dodge is showing some swagger and catering to the enthusiast market. We like that. A lot.

    it is very sinister
Some people live long, meaningful lives.

Other people eat shit and die.

I'm not racist, I hate everybody equally; especially fat people.

I'd rather have this car than any BMW in production right now. I said it.

That thing sounds so mean that if you pull up next to an M4 and rev the Active Sound Design will play this:
