2015 Porsche 911 GTS spyphotos - 430 horsepower standard to bridge the Carrera S to GT3 gap?
It seems everyone is confused as to what this test mule actually is. Last month PorscheBoost posted a video of a camouflaged 991 model that was reported as the 991 facelift. The question was raised as to why this facelift is coming very early and what will be changed exactly. With the 991 Turbo just hitting the market and the 991 GT3 barely able to even get on the market it seems far more likely the pictures below are of a 2015 911 GTS model.
You may remember that Porsche did a GTS model with the 997 generation. Porsche also offers the Cayman and Boxster in GTS trim. The GTS will neatly slot above the Carrera S but below the 911 GT3. Porsche artificially fills gaps in the lineup by changing software and offering some options as standard. That is exactly what the Cayman/Boxster GTS are and likely what the 911 GTS will be based on precedent.
Expect a minor horsepower bump above the Carrera S 400 horsepower but below the GT3's 475 horsepower. If PorscheBoost were to guess the ~$17,000 911 Carrera S Powerkit that boosts output to 430 horsepower may be standard. That way the 911 GTS will not be the completely absurd rip off that the Cayman and Boxster GTS are as they simply get different ECU software with no hardware changes. The Carrera S X51 Powerkit at least gives you new cylinder heads, new cams, and a revised intake.
