APR's EA888 2.0T Stage III Garret GTX2867R turbo kit hits over 400 horsepower to the wheels

Another day another great product from APR for the VW/Audi scene. APR released their 1st gen Stage III turbo upgrade for the EA888 based 2.0T motors. This turbo kit utilizes a Garret GTX2867R and there is a large performance increase to say the last. On 93 octane pump gas output goes from the stock 194 wheel horsepower to 376 wheel horsepower for an increase of 182 horsepower at the wheels. Yep, that is a healthy bump.

The 100 octane numbers are even more impressive as a race gas tune nets 412 horsepower at the wheels. Keep in mind this is achieved on the stock fuel system. APR is basically doubling the output the fuel system was designed for they state to get more than this their upcoming direct injection fuel system upgrade will be necessary.

The full turbo kit costs $4,859.99 which considering APR's engineering and reliability is tough to argue with. The supported platforms are listed below along with the dynographs. Great work from APR as usual.

Crazy to think the CLA/A 45 put down almost the same exact power as a stage 3 upgraded turbo TFSI with a simple piggyback pump vs pump(370 whp on renntech A45 piggyback) spool looks better on the CLA to guess its the twin scroll vs single scroll

Well I mean this thing is over 400 whp so it's a bit ahead of the A45/CLA45 right now.

Just to be clear, you're comparing a 10 year old motor that was available in sub $30k cars to a brand new motor in a $50k car?

How so? Thats on race gas im sure the cla can do similar look at the pump vs pump numbers that should tell you. Were talking about a car with a piggyback vs a car with a whole lot of mods as well

Well I haven't seen the same yet from the M133. I think it ultimately has more capability but for now this is more power.

Right but this same upgrade is applicable to brand new S3's and Audi TT-S's while making a bit more power still in the same area. Im also comparing a car with upgraded turbos, upgraded fuel system/injectors, intake, dp w/full exhaust, and intercooler against a car thats stock down to the filter except for a basic piggyback with both motors being same size. Just saying its crazy how much power they are getting out of these small motors now with decent spool up. Audi is tooling up to release an even stronger engine then the M133 and Head of AMG Tobias Moers stated AMG will use their trump card and best that output. These new 4 cylinders are going to be nuts !

Holy hell. For less than $4900 this is a no-brainer.

to go from stock to this kit it's a bit of money. Especially if you want to put this power down.

The bare minimum we're looking at an Intercooler, downpipe/midpipe, clutch for Manual, and a cold air intake. If you go with APR for that tack on an easy $3k

Realistically intercooler, turboback, clutch (or DSG tune), LSD, full mounts, suspension, high performance tires, and if you track/run race file rods are probably a good idea. Pistons, springs, valves, retainers, etc are also up there too..

To go from stock to this and make it actually fun to drive I would say at a minimum $10-12k before installs, on a FWD car. Of course while that may be "childs play" for a AMG or m3, we're looking at spending nearly half the car's sticker price for APR's generous dyno's 400whp.

I'll admit they did price this particular turbo set up well in comparison to a lot of their parts. I love the GTI, but I rather move onto a platform better suited to make and handle power for less.

Very good price on this kit. It'd be crazy to see a Bettle putting down 400WHP LOL. Would be killer in some roll racing.

Well sure...but you can make those same arguments with any car. I'm never going to buy a GTI but if I was, I'd be looking at this pretty hard.

Its very far from applicable. The Gen 3 motors are completely different.

This kit is decent value for the cars going from a KO3 or IHI G6 to this. The cars already equipped with a KO4 can be maxed out to similar levels with maybe 20whp less peak with a better power curve.

As someone mentioned it needs to be clarified what supporting mods are required.

The Gen 3 motors are completely different but the overall kit and results are in the same ballpark. I believe the gen 3 kit makes 400whp on APR's ambitious dyno. I bet a 45 will get there with bolt ons and past with e85

This is a gen 1 kit. Gen 3 ea888 are not even in the US yet. These kits won't work on those engines.

Oops not 100% up to speed on the VAG engine codes. I meant the motor that's in the S3/TT-s with the Stage 3 APR

Same here... I know the vw/audi 2.0t has been around for nearly a decade with a few revisions, but I'm not sure what they were and when they happened.... anyone care to drop some knowledge?
