Hardcore F-Type RS spotted testing with carbon ceramic brakes - 600+ horsepower?

Remember earlier this month when it was rumored that Jaguar was looking to make a more hardcore performance oriented F-Type coupe? Well, it sure looks like that car is on the way as it has been spotted testing sporting carbon ceramic brakes along with with some aggressive aerodynamic changes.

Jaguar reportedly is targeting 400 pounds of weight loss but that seems very optimistic. If they could pull even a couple hundred pounds out of the car that would be incredible. Especially considering that the supercharged 5.0 liter V8 is expected to get a power bump into the 600 horsepower range.

A bit of weight savings will no doubt come from the carbon ceramic brakes but where else Jaguar will cut weight is anyone's guess. It is interesting to note that this is the convertible F-Type which means the RS trim will likely be available for both the coupe and convertible.

It is nice to see Jaguar taking performance so seriously. They did not put a roll cage in a convertible test car just for fun.

Typically when companies are purchased, the new owners end up screwing them up. But Tata has been great for JLR. Very exciting.

    I could not agree more.

Jaguar is sooooooo much better. New models coming, higher performance, way to go.

Jaguar is supposed to be aggressive and strong. Funny that the Indians do a better job with Jaguar than the British could.

Land Rover is far better off too. Dropping weight, excellent supercharged engines, all while maintaining their heritage (off roading) and classic styling. The new Disco line looks awesome. The FFRR and RRS are amazing. All around impressive. And I bet part of it has to do with Tata actually be relatively hands off - letting the Brits do what they do best (but flush with Tata cash).

    The cash certainly is helping.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with the XE.

Would it be safe to say that this is essentially a supercharged coyote motor in a Jag refined chassis? Or should I just go to bed?

Yep. It would be cool if they gave it a DCT thought instead of that automatic.
