Undercover Performance gets over 1000 whp and 150 mile per hour trap speeds out of a 996 Turbo with the ProEFI 128 ECU and E85

Some good tuning here that shows off the flexibility offered by the plug and play ProEFI 128 ECU for the Porsche 996 Turbo platform. ProEFI offers a kit that is fully ready for the 996 Turbo along with coils, 5 BAR MAP sensor kit, fuel pressure kit, CAN cable, wideband 02 sensors, EGT sensors, E85 flexfuel capability, wiring, essentially the works to make the 996 Turbo play nice with significant engine changes. With some big turbos and internal engine upgrades including forged rods the result is 1010 whp on a Mustang Dyno.

The car also was put on a Dynojet but the Dynojet maxed out at 1000 whp. Maxing out a Dynojet? Good times. That particular dynamometer needs an update to show the full figures but clearly the power is verified on more than one dyno.

Regarding performance the car traps 152. A best run of 10.253 @ 152.90 shows the capability for deep 9 second performance although the 60 foot of 1.831 needs significant improvement to get there. As this is a rear wheel drive car (preserving the all wheel drive drivetrain becomes more difficult and requires greater investment at these torque levels) it is a bit more difficult to hook up off the line. Better to spin tires than break parts though, right?

Solid work all around showing the 996 Turbo as a great Porsche tuning value platform considering what used examples can be picked up for today.

Mummy I'm scared, 1100 Giggities... awesome by Garth

My Mum had Beetles back in the 60's and 70's, my $#@! border collie was 10mph quicker and used to beat us home from school chasing my Mum's car as it kangaroo hopped down the road

1100 on a car using stock pistons, stock displacement, stock heads, stock manifolds, stock cams.... Just rods, turbos, E85 & some kick ass tuning.

There's a LOT more power left in this car, it's really amazing how well the Mezger (and the 996 has a slightly lower VE then the 997 Mezger motor) responds to some very basic turbo engine mods.

It is look like 3.8 kit and aftermarket camshafts peak hp gain is not worh it but may give better power under curve

So are 3.8 and camshafts worth it? I mean price to power

IMO 3.6L is plenty of motor and after forging the internals, you're better spending money on headwork & springs to raise the redline. Tim's Red Dragon (1300 WHP) and the SpoolBus are both 3.6s.

    3.8 vs 3.6 is minimal.
