    Protomotive FTW - Porsche 996 Turbo S

After much research and chatting, reading blogs yada yada yada, I have decided to go with Todd Knighton at Protomotive to do our 996 TTS mods...

Current tune is a GIAC 93 octane file with AWE GT2 race exhaust, EVOMSit v-flow intake... stock IC's, stock DV's, stock turbos

1.2 bar, a bit rough on the idle and at low revs... stellar at 4000 rpm plus, about 525 crank hp on 93+ octane, 0-100 avg 8.1 secs

Aim = lower down torque and driveability, then up to 650 crank hp

    New tune
    DV's
    1 bar waste gate act
    Then IC's or water/meth - anyone advise here ?
    K24/billet
    Injectors
    Clutch
    5 bar pump act
    RACE GAS

In regards to your mods, I'd say go with the ICs over the Meth kit. Meth is great and all, but with a quality set of ICs you'll have a lot more effective + consistent IAT reduction. Pretty sure Proto has their own IC "of choice", (Here's their Alpha 30/GT30 996-997 Full Turbo Kit Upgrade, Includes the Turbos, Y-Pipe, Intercoolers, Headers/Exhaust, Necessary Piping, Boost Controller/Tune).

Good choice on the K24 billets you'll get the quicker spool you are looking for. It's like K16 spool but with monster top end punch that the K16's lack.

Those are good upgrades and won't break the bank or reinvent the wheel.

So after a few days of tinkering with my Durametric set up and running every log under the sun Todd Knighton worked out my car is tuned way too "boosty" for my stock injectors and fuel system..

we are hitting 1.23 bars boost at 5k rpm or so and then we run out of the gas...... injector limit hit 100%

Next stop will be Protosports in Jersey who does work for Protomotive for an upgrade and plugs/coils probably

I remember mate, thanks... everyone here on the boards has been great and a guy TimNYC who has the 1200 whp 996TT offered help as well as markski, the GIAC guy etc

I also bought the Eurodyne tuning package just to educate myself a bit more on what mods actually add or subtract...

I expect I will end up with the new fueling, upgraded ICs at some point, 2.5 clutch (Sachs) at some stage and maybe modded turbos to reduce lag... having driven mainly N/A cars for 32 years it is interesting when the BOOST hits and you go all GIGGITY in your seat............

Did some 3rd gear pulls again today, will add a video when I can

Question - The car runs very rich at mid revs when I go to WOT, AFRs as low as 9.8 - 10.2 and then by the time it gets to 6k revs it has a more normal AFR = 11.5-12

Apart from the fueling problem of the Injection DC % going over 100, hence requiring larger injectors could there also be another issue

Seems strange to have low AFRs at 3300-4500 rpm then more normal at 5000-7000 rpm

Yes mate, I will ask the NJ guys at Protosports if they do dyno's etc...

I do have detailed Durametric stuff but should really get a vbox to do some 20-90/100 mph runs (I cannot really go faster here on the roads I use)

Why would you guys do ICs over meth ? If done right and checked often meth can offer more than just ICs... and power is addictive... next year the OP might want bigger ICs than now, for example... meth will help with octane too... even with AFR... and IATs will be much better with stock IC+meth vs biggest ICs on the market... also there will be no need for race gas, not to say a meth kit is much cheaper than any IC upgrade
