New Edition to the Family: Picked up a M3 last night

I'm usually the first one to say never buy somebody else's incomplete project car, but I came across a steal that was just miles away from my house. It's a 1997 M3 4 door with 150k on the body. The owner ran into some unfortunate life situations during the build and had to let it go. Over all the car is in great shape, and has been garaged with a car cover on it the last 2-3 years. Knowing the condition of the car, and the mods, I just had to go scoop it up.

As for the mods on the car:

    Engine:
    M52B28 Bored to 84.5mm
Metric Mechanic Rebuilt Head with Port and Polish
    Supertech Valve springs
    CP 8.5:1 Pistons
    Eagle Rods
    Crank was polished and Balanced
    VAC Oil Pump
    M50 Intake Manifold
666 Top mount Turbo manifold (T4 Flanged)
TEC3 PNP (Car was converted to OBDI)
    60lb Precision Injectors
    Mishimoto Radiator
The Owner also gave me a bunch of bends for intercooler piping, an intercooler, wastegate, and BOV

    Chassis:
Ground control Street/Track Coilovers with Koni Yellow Shocks
    Sway Barbarian

There's probably more on the car that I have forgotten or don't know about, but so far I'm happy I picked this thing up. I've always wanted a turbo e36 M3 so here is my chance. Overall, lots of 1997 and turbo builds going on in my garage.

I gotta say the body is quite solid looking for that mileage! Congrats.

Does anything need to be done to get it running? What stage was the project in when he let it go?

Thanks guys. Yes the body is in really good shape. The guy I bought from took really good care of this and truly loved it. There are literally two very small dings on the trunk and nothing else. The interior pretty good as well. Vaders up front that don't even have any wrinkles. They literally look almost brand new.

At this point I have a lot of sorting out to do. Most of the parts are in the car I just have to assemble them. Front what I can see now,

-Cut the wires for the immobilizer
-Install the manifold and throttle body
    -Tap manifold for MAP reference
    -Coolant hoses
    -Belts
    -Turbo
    -exhaust
    -Intercooler and Charge piping
-Install the Maxpsi fuel pump kit
-get some headlights and turn signals

Then it should be time to fire it up and tune it. I'm probably gonna start with pump gas although I prefer e85. I just don't know much about these cars, how much fuel flow the stock fuel lines and rail can support, or even what pump the Maxpsi fuel pump kit came with. I think down the line I'll probably do a surge tank setup and and run aluminum hard line to a new rail. But that will be after the car is sorted and running. Plus I still need to finish up the VW.

Yeah but that's what makes it fun. Realistically, if I had the time I could make this car start in a day or two. I just need to make some time, I'm almost mad I'm going on vacation lol

Thanks guys! I ordered the turbo last friday. In order to start the car I need to figure out how to bypass the EWSII antitheft system if anybody knows anything about it. The posts I've been finding online never seem to have a solid answer about what needs to happen.

ok, it begins again lol. Precision sent me the wrong Compressor and Turbine housings. It's all taken care of now thanks to Mike and Robert at Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS). If anybody is in the market for a turbo hit them up. This is the second one I've ordered from them. Always the best pricing and great customer service.

A wee bit of progress. bypassed the ews II. This was actually a pretty big deal because I did not build this motor, and was concerned whether it would spin or not. It did so on we go.

I pretty much finished this thing up. All that is left, wire up gauges, put the gm 3bar map sensor in, and upload my map. RabbitPusher made my down pipe and dump tube, he just needs to do the final welding. I got a little excited and bought a battery and tried to start it. It ran for a couple seconds and stalled out.

Ok so the hardware is all done. But I'm having some issues that I can figure out. My fuel pump no longer primes when turning the key. The pump, fuses, and relays are all good. Also, if I jump the relay and keep the pump on and turn the car over it still does not start, the injectors are not firing. I have no fault codes, and I have a tach signal (on my laptop). I have also tried swapping Dme's and bypassed the ews II. What are your guys' thoughts? @alex@arbhouston I'd appreciate your input since you had an e36 as well.

This no fuel issue driving me crazy. I changed both the fuel pump and dme relay. It didn't make a difference.
