    APR releases 10.1:1 compression forged Mahle pistons for the 2.5 TFSI turbocharged inline-5 motor

    APR is now beefing up the internals of the 2.5 TFSI Audi inline-5 motor. As you may recall, APR last year released their Stage III turbocharger upgrade for the Audi TT-RS equipped with the 2.5 TFSI motor. This Garret GT35R based package is capable of over 600 horsepower at the wheels. That would seem to be the range where APR is drawing the line on the stock internals and with offering these Mahle pistons 2.5 TFSI owners should now be able to push further.

    The motor likely would be able to handle a bit more than 600 horsepower at the wheels but then questions of durability and reliability arise. If you need more htan 600 wheel and want to do so safely (and who doesn't?) these pistons are recommended. They are slightly higher compression at 10.1:1 versus the 10.0:1 of the stock motor. They also offer 83mm bore versus 82.5mm for the stock pistons.

    Pricing $1,099.99 for a set and APR also has rods to go with them. It will be interesting to see how much further the 2.5 TFSI can go now.

    I don't disagree.

    I wonder with the pistons and rods what the 2.5 TFSI will do now? And will they run into fuel problems?

    I'm sure they will always run into fuel problems with direct injection. The only people i know that can do it is APR...

    It seems like they can do anything they want.

    APR says that their upgraded HPFP for the 2.5TFSI leaves plenty of headroom for safety and further power advances.

    At 4500rpm their new HPFP flows around 700cc/m more than stock and well over 1000cc/min more at 7500. The stock HPFP was able to provide pretty adequate fueling on pump gas with a GTX3076R. So they may be able to see mid-high 700whp numbers on this HPFP. Getting new injectors for APR is a cakewalk as they've done it a bunch of times before for other engines, so that shouldn't be an issue either. I think their biggest limiting factor in power advance is fitment of a larger turbo. From what I understand the GTX3576R was a pretty tight fit.

    I should have typed the full turbo name out but in the link I do mention the whole name. I just appreviated but yes GTX35 as you stated.

    I'm pretty excited for the RS Q3 providing this is all accurate. Could you imagine a 700 whp SUV weighing under 4000 pounds with all wheel drive and a dual clutch trans? That thing would be f'ing ridiculous.

    Audi is really stepping up their game on their recent generation of vehicles. I'm interested to see what they do with the A4/A5. Will they use the same/similar 2.0T as the one found in the mk7 GTI or bump them up to the engine found in the mk7 Golf-R?

    a 700whp daily driven SUV with all the normal creature comforts one comes to expect in a luxury vehicle would be pretty $#@!ing awesome.
