2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Has 620 Horses, 650 Pound Feet Of Torque

The 2015 Corvette Z06 will be upon us next week, where they'll unveil it at the Detroit Auto Show and online. The website for the reveal is…Read…

The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is supposed to debut next week, but we've already got pictures of it right here. And it's got beautiful, powerful lines to match that beautiful, powerful engine.

Reader JarrodL was the first to spot the leak, and he's already noticed some interesting details, including the paddles behind the wheel. No matter what the transmission is, with 620 horses and 650 pound-feet of torque, it's guaranteed to be fast. It looks like somebody fed a regular Corvette all the steroids in the world.

Is that an automatic? It had better not be.

EXPANDJust from these shots alone, you can tell the new Corvette Z06 is going to be very aggressive, with all those new aero bits tacked on. And with a top speed hovering probably around the 200 MPH mark, it's going to need all those new bits.

since this thing has hp figures around the same as the GT500 i expect this thing to be even faster in every aspect vs the GT500 as well....

I'm pretty sure it's a manual (that shifter seems to have a manual pattern on it) but that the paddles are used for the rev matching like on the regular stingray. Which is idiotic IMO.

Going by what GM has be hinting. This thing designed to go around a track. I am sure it will still embarrass a lot cars in a straight line, just by its power/weight ratio. But it will murder cars like the GT500 around the road course.

I love the look but the standard C7 is fine for me. People will bolting that supercharger off for other options anyway. It's just a low compression LT1 with a blower.

Car and Driver issue for February does a interview with Ford and guess what? The new mustangs are getting independent rear suspension! IE no longer an american muscle car but a decent sports car. I see the new GT giving the new M4 a run for its money. As much as I hate to say it. IT'll do BMW some good getting it's ass beat by a Ford 5.0

Scooped" from the '15 Z06 reveal:

    - 8L90E 8-Speed Automatic available (Only 620+ hp car so equipped)
    - Steel torque tube replaced with woven c/f
    - 60% more rigid chassis, with roof on, than C6 Z06
    - 2.2" wider front track
    - 3" wider rear track
    - Wheel and tire sizes from C6 ZR1
    - 3 levels, with varying degrees of aero downforce, with the Z07 version having more d/f than any production car GM's tested in their wind tunnel
    - Compact 1.7L supercharger capable of 20,000 rpm and 9.5 psi of boost
    - Pre-production versions set lap records @ Milford, beating ZR1 lap times

This thing even looks nuts sitting under camo.

Yeah IRS was announced along with the GT350 a few months ago, I don't think a 5.0 will ever compete with anything //M. It's performance may match a 3 series, but it's still not a BMW with all the BMW features, I agree though, just the way Ford and GM have been stepping up big time, the germans will now too.

Damn this looks sexy! I was always neutral regarding corvettes, but this one has got me seriously contemplating one; though I'd give it a while before purchasing 'cause you can guarantee dealers will be gouging the sh!t out of the first buyers.

Yes it was quickly determined to be a photoshop weeks ago.

As you can see it is missing a few elements from the real pics.

You can't get anything from BMW that will perform like this.

You can get an i8 and brag about your MPG while the Z06 kicks dirt in your face though.

I don't care, right now the interior and overall looks of the car still bug me. I liked the c6 styling better. The new interior is slightly better than before but still should be way better for a sports car.

I doubt it's going to be the same engine. The Stingray is not built for boost so it wont come with strong internals like the N54 or lets talk about american cars made with boost from factory. It will be hard to push it 2x the factory power without cringing about the motor blowing. True non of us know what the engine is fully made of, I'm just goign based off experience with boosted motors.

My LNF came with forged pistons and rods from factory, ever wonder why I could have gone 600whp with a stock motor? Motors are made for boost, will be better built when wanting to boost more. That's my .02 for the day.
