World's fastest MKVI Golf? APR Stage 3+ GT3071 equipped DSG GTI goes 10.9@133

10's for the MKVI Golf at over 130 miles per hour. That is moving and a very respectable result for a front wheel drive car. The MKVI Golf in question has the APR Stage 3+ kit with a GT3071 turbocharger. This includes an upgraded intercooler, APR HPFP (high pressure fuel pump), APR RSC exhaust, APR pistons, and APR rods. The DSG transmission receives upgraded clutch packs that function thanks to Harding Performance DSG software.

All of this results in a 10.914 @ 133.13 in the 1/4 mile despite the 1.914 60 foot. A front wheel drive car is difficult to launch yet the car still ran 10's with a 1.9X, impressive.

Congratulations to APR Australia who made this happen.

    Specs from APR Australia:

Off the shelf APR Stage 3+ kit, including APR Intercooler, APR OPS system, APR HPFP, APR RSC Exhaust.
Stock engine with APR pistons & APR Rods

Upgraded Clutch packs in the DSG
    Harding Performance DSG Software

Modifications for the drags from its street legal trim:

Removal of the passenger seats & spare tyre
    Fitting drag slicks (15")
    Removal of catback exhaust

The fuel ran was Sunoco GT260+, and unleaded "race" fuel that is compatible with street cars & catalytic converters.

There is no boost controllers, there is no water or methanol injection.

The vehicle runs stock VW boost control & sensors, the vehicle also runs the stock diverter valve and is a daily driven car.

This car (in street trim) is completely legal & modification certified.

Nice write up Sticky, surprised i missed this.

honestly, North America got $#@!ED with our bull$#@! laser welded HPFP. 133 out of this engine is pretty awesome.

Would love to see this car get a better 60', think it could run a bit deeper in the 10s given the DSG and that trap. I know the GLI posted on here a few times ran a 10.997@129.83 with a 1.704 60' and a manual transmission. Granted the gearing on the two are a bit different.

The NA HPFP is laser welded shut, you are unable to open them to upgrade them or service them. The ROW applications do not have this restriction.

i know a lot of platforms face DI fueling restrictions but APR is usually pretty quick to solve them. They may be doing an intake manifold with port injection and an external controller to get around the NA fueling

But you can ditch the NA HPFP for a different unit right?

Nope, but there are upgraded LPFP available that will help supply enough fuel to break past 500whp.

to be completely honest, i really can't give an exact answer on that.

It could be because of how the HPFP fires and the ECU is set up. I know the ROW won't work on our engines unless you basically swap the engine and ECU. I know the TTRS pump (which is used on the ROW) will not work either.

I've been through countless threads and topics on this on TSI forums and i don't think i ever seen an explanation as to why our HPFP hasn't been upgraded other than it being laser welded shut and that it supplies enough fuel for 500whp+ on race gas and/or meth injection.

At this point in time APR is the big hardware supplier for the TSI. sure everyone and their mother has Intercoolers, Downpipes, and intakes but no one has a tried and true tested BT kit other than CTS (though as you can see numbers for those kits are not pouring out like APR kits). On the TSI forums, it seems like the majority of people running the CTS kits are overseas and they don't have the HPFP woes like the NA market does. So now it falls down to APR, and since their Stage 3+ kit doesn't max out fuel, they just don't have a huge reason to release a new HPFP. Unlike on the TTRS and FSI platforms where the HPFP was maxed out before ever upgrading the turbo (for instance on the FSI to go Stage 2 on the stock turbo you need a new HPFP)

at this point, there are not many people clamoring for more than 500whp on a FWD car. I only know of a handful that are coming close to maxing out turbos and running out of fuel before supplementing with meth.

There is a guy on the golfmk6 forums by the name of U-20T. I believe you had an article on his car, hit like 470something on 93+WMI with a unitronic tune.

A few months ago he brought his car to Force Fed Engineering (who are pretty well known in the 1.8T scene for building drag cars and some beautiful manifolds)

They added a custom manifold and a PTE5858 to his car.

He never had it fully tuned and dynoed, before he could he tore his 4th gear up

Just put in a GLI trans with his old LSD and strengthened shift forks (The GLI has a bit taller gearing). In the spring he is going with SQS and changing the ratio a bit. He's also working on getting smaller wheels and wider rubber (going over 9" on our cars is not an easy task). Once that's taken care of he'll work on maxing out the 5858 then is moving to a PTE6262. He works closely with Unitronic for tuning. I'm sure between Uni and FFE they may come up with a fueling solution other than flowing a 2000cc/m of meth.

Then There is Harding performance over in Australia (the car in this article). They're testing a Stage 3+ GTX kit on a....

    TIGUAN.

Which just happens to have AWD and the same 2.0 TSI engine found in the GLI/GTI/CC/etc along with a 7 speed DSG tranny found in the TTRS overseas.
