Official: Porsche reveals the 2014 Porsche Macan S and Macan Turbo

Well here we finally are. No more teasers, no more spyphotos, no more speculation, just the real deal. Here is the 2014 Porsche Macan Turbo and S model. The turbo features a 400 horsepower 3.6 liter twin turbo V6 and starts at $72,300. The Macan S has a smaller 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 with 340 horsepower and starts at a much more affordable $49,900. Both the S and the Turbo features the same 7-speed Porsche PDK dual clutch transmission.

That steering wheel is amazing, much better than either that they are currently using. Hope it makes its way across the whole model line soon. The multifunction wheel is nice, but those stupid thumb buttons for the DCT are appalling. The sport design wheel with the paddles is also beautiful, but there's no other functions on the wheel. This seems to blend both, and it looks better than either to boot

Overall love this car, hoping it sells well.

This is going to fly off lots. I see no reason to opt for the cayenne.

I'm trying to figure out how one justifies a macan turbo over the s which is... turbo.

    Turbo has more standard equipment.

You can look at it this way. You get Cayenne Turbo performance with the Macan Turbo, for almost $40k less.

If you add the Turbo standard equipment to the S, it is ~$65k. Most of which is must have options.

I really love this car , spec wise ,look wise , interior wise, perfromance wise , well , in every way. I find it a good option for a daily .

Only one thing I don't understand , why does the S has the lower body parts (like the rear bumper) painted in cheap plastic black ? Not matching it with the rest of the colors gives me a really cheap feel . I'm not familiar with Porsche's car configurator , but is it possible to get the Turbo body pkg on a regular S ?

Prestige/badge, power without tune, high build level as noted above. For the minimal build I'm going to do, I'd rather tune the 3.0 like a Panamera S and keep $12k in my pocket.

Not sure which specific cars you are viewing, but the launch turbo had the optional rear skid plate, while the S didn't. You can add the plates to either model. The side shields can be ordered in body color or CF as options.

This car I'm looking at :http://www.bimmerboost.com/images/im...llpaperi-1.jpg to be more specific. I know you can get the skid plate in aluminium but the rest is black opposed to Turbo one where it's painted all in the same color as the exterior.

MSRP is a tick over $59k. Deal is through a family connection; not sure what if any discount I'll get but it's better than anything I can negotiate at my local dealer on one of the early allocations. Click here to enlarge

Well congrats man. I'm wondering if I should replace my Cayenne with this. Maybe I'll sell my M3 and just enjoy the Macan as a do everything car.

Thanks man. I don't know if this will be good enough to replace an M3, especially one built to the level that yours is, but if you don't need the full-size capability of the Cayenne... I think a test drive will answer your question there.

True, but who really needs any of these cars? We could all do with a Camry or an Accord, or in the case of a Macan, a CR-V.
