The 2015 Audi A3 sedan starts at $30,795 and the A3 convertible will come to the USA
Hot on the heels of the BMW 2-Series announcement comes news from Audi that the A3 sedan will start at $30,795. This undercuts the BMW 228i which starts at $33,025. The 228i is more powerful though at 240 horsepower to the entry level A3's 1.8 liter turbo four-cylinder's 170 horsepower. Will BMW introduce a cheaper 220i model to now undercut the A3? They have room to do so based on the F30 320i precedent.
Audi will have a higher horsepower 2.0 liter four-cylinder A3 and also a roughly ~300 horsepower S3 model. To combat the 322 horsepower M235i as well as the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG expect an Audi RS3 model with the award winning 2.5 liter inline-5 motor from the TT-RS.
In addition to the sedan, Audi stated in a somewhat surprising move that the A3 convertible will make it to the USA to compete with the convertible BMW F23 2-Series. Mercedes-Benz does not have a competitor in this segment.
The entry level luxury segment is heating up.

I like the back seat it actually looks like it could fit 3 tweens in it or be comfortable enough for two full size adults and some baggage.
with RS3 version with the 2.5 in it would be awesome! 40k or so for it? That would be a very viable car that could give a lot of current cars for money!

Probably closer to $50k but worth every penny.

This car, with quatro, DSG and a 2.0 TSI could be a lot of fun. Not nerely as fun as a 2.5 though. That would straight up be a wolf in sheep's clothing, especially with the ttrs running 10s with that engine.

The rs3 will be the best thing since the b5 s4.
