Thinking of getting qtp 2.5" electric cutouts for my m3. Opinions? And if anyone knew of a shop in Long Island NY that can install them I would appreciate it

Consider a valved exhaust system as well.

I contacted acm and was quoted 600-800$ for installation without the cutout price included. Was quoted $700 including the cutouts from another shop. Probably going to use the other shop or opt for modified stock mufflers

How much additional did they want for the cutouts?

Just make sure your comparing apples to apples with shops. ACM knows m3's, has a certified bmw master tech on staff and has installed many of these. I always use them. The last thing you want to do is go to a shop that might mess up the install or jack the price up on you once they get into the job and see what is required.

Thats what I did, reversed; I had a local place that was cheaper do my setup first, the work was flawed, the valves were cheap and failed. I had ACM do it properly..over a year on this setup with 100% success.. Think about it.. in the words of undercover "If you dont have time to do it right the first time, you better have the time to do it twice" or something like that Click here to enlarge

    Are cutouts really rocket science?

No, but look at LM's response....

Its annoying when they don't work properly. Just a word of caution. Plus, i like the fact that a bmw certified tech can look at my M while they do work (look for leaks, potential issues, etc.)

Valid points. A cutout isn't the hardest thing in the world though.

    my issue was 2 fold-
    1. the valves they chose were apparently prone to failure, as they did.

2.The welding work they did was good in theory, but then part of the tubing they added rubbed on the axle once the car was set to different suspension settings (EDC).

Is it rocket science? no, but would it go a long way to know its done properly the first time by someone that specializes in the car you have? sure does..

OP could always get the evolve valved setup, looks better, saves weight

Eh if im going to spend $1000 I would rather a used full exhaust system. I dont think its rocket science. 8 hours installation for electric cutouts i was quoted by acm. Meanwhile they take 2 hours from most shops
