2013 Shelby Gt-500 Super Snake 850 crank horsepower!

On this episode of Ignition, Carlos Lago tests the 850 horsepower Shelby GT500 Super Snake. A horsepower claim that high prompts three questions: Does it actually make that much power? Is it too much for the car? And how fast is it? We find out with a trip to K&N Engineering's dyno, a drive on mountain roads, and a trip to the test track.

850 hp is not anywhere near too much it's just the GT500 has trouble putting it down.

850 HP and brakes that can't cope. Sounds like a deathtrap. For as "awesome" as the engine is, the brakes should be at least as awesome.

Are you saying it has carbon brakes? That would help balance things a bit if it did I guess.

These cars only perform at the dragstrip, they get slaughtered regularly doing rolls by cars making hundreds less horsepower. That screw type S/C kills it up top

And the weight and powerband. Look at how 63 AMG's do up top with the twin screw.

Centri is the way to go,like what you did IMO

I see so many videos boasting "1000whp GT500 vs...." and they always lose. They are out of their element(IMO of course) doing a 60-200mph roll against any modded turbo of similar or equal HP. The GT500 excels at the dragstrip but that's about it.

Each car has their strengths and weaknesses. A centri say M3 with equal power to a twin screw GT500 will beat it from a roll likely every single time.

I guess people do or they wouldn't make these. Doesn't make any sense to me though just buy a GT500 and mod it better than this.

A half million in 40 years will be worth a few thousand today.
