Spul Engineering releases their SSP (super spool pulley) underdrive pulley kit for the 2.0 TSI motors
Underdrive pulleys are a popular way to extract a few more horses out of a motor. Essentially, by underdriving accessories such as the alternator, power steering pump, and a/c compressor, horsepower being drawn from the engine can be freed up. It is only a few more horses as the power gain for the part is claimed at 5-7 horsepower. Yes, not much power but for guys trying to extract every little bit to get that edge it is certainly an area to look into.
Especially considering the pulley only costs $199. It is made out of aluminum and at 16 ounces lighter than the factory pulley at 64 ounces.
Where is the dynograph though? Horsepower claims on paper are nice and yes underdrive pulleys do free up power but this website expects claims to be backed up.

surprised they came out with this.
Mainly because there are already a handful of pulleys on the market for the TSI and i know of less than 5 people on golfmk6 that run them. Even the guys with 500+hp stay away from them. Keep in mind they are harmonic dampeners. They need some weight on them. So while you may be saving 3lbs. You could run into issues in the long run as any harmonics in the engine will be amplified due to the loss of dampening.
