    PTF E50 Map Run

More than a hand full of us rolled out last night Aug 9th to the PBIR Street Legends Event by Bizpeed.net https://www.facebook.com/events/119530224884152/

Again the weather was no joke 82 f - 85 f with 65% humidity 1730+ DA pretty much throughout the entire night event.

I have to say though I need to be shot, lol, as I pulled my GoPro out and turn it on I see "No SD Card" FRACK ! haha, left my SD card in my computer from Wednesday night's grudge match with the BMS 335i

Before I begin, I would like to say though out the wonderful experience with PTF, I never received a "revised map"

I received one E40 base starter map for etuning, did my logs and sent it back to them. They made adjustments to uniform my particular setup and then sent me an E50 map Click here to enlarge

I finally loaded the E50 map, sent logs back for verification and got the green light to beat up on this map. Before heading out to PBIR, I decided to jump the gun and add 10% more E85 making my mix E60 to see how my LPFP will handle with the fuel trims.

Just keep in mind I am tuned for E50 not E60....yet Click here to enlarge

The PBIR event had 40 roll racing and dig racing. However the track had no prep till 9pm and by time I got to it waiting in that LONG line of cars after the DR and slickster cars destroyed the track I basically didn't have much to work with.

Before the dig racing I did two 40 rolls with a FBO upgraded Exhaust PROcede 335is leaving it 2+ cars behind. My temps during these rolls were starting at 130ish and ending in 150ish. This was when the sun was still up and blazing and I had just arrived there not giving the car a chance to rest

So I finally let the car rest for hours and would start it occasionally just to keep the oil temps above 160 till after the track was prepped for dig runs in which I only got the left overs since I was at the back of the line

My first dig run was not all that great, I had to feather launch significantly before I opened up the throttle since I virtually had no grip from the dig and I am running 275 PSS tires

So whats so special about this E50 map ? Well let just take a look at the timing in my logs that I did 117 mph on

Timing in first and second gears were up there but immediately dropped 2 degrees in third and ended at 5 degree timing in fifth gear.

Don't know what happened there but I see this only when using LC for some reason. I am thinking something to do with the all the feathering I was doing to maintain traction ? I could only imagine if I had my full 14 degrees what I would have trapped.

Lets say that's over for digs, made no sense to do more digs with the current condition of the track. So I moved on to roll racing again but this time, guess whos in line with me ? Yup the BMS flash 335is I have been running tug of war with previously.

He was toasting everything out their on the track, no one beat him yet in a roll, he was just a total monster. What difference from the last time we ran is I was now on an E50 map and not the E40 base starter map by PTF.

Seeing that I was inline with him I literally pushed my car with engine off to starting line to save my IATs.

I start up he's ready, we are both nervous, cars begin rolling together side by side, we held 40 till the tree, then we opened up. By time I hit 3 gear I was looking for him to my side but didn't see him, then looked again and I saw his right light in my passenger side view, then he popped up in my rear view mirror 2+ car behind and falling back

Here is the log from that roll:

This was our first and last run on the PBIR track. However it didn't end here. It was an all out brawl now, satisfied with the roll at PBIR, perhaps thinking it was a fluke, war went to Mexico and it was 40-160 shot out.

Same results as on the track, pulled him hard leaving him in my rear view and every post shift he fell back a doors length ending in almost 3 cars length

Here is the BMS flash 335i logs, running more boost with virtually NO TAPPER in the higher end

Thus we have a PTF E50 vs BMS flash E70 map comparison. The BMS flash was pulled so hard in the low end it just could not recover and the 335is just continued creeping away. So does the BMS flash now need meth to go up against a non meth E92 ? The 335is again still running all 4 cats (2 of them highflow) and significantly weighs more, and now an absolete FMIC.

This is just summer weather now, we can only imagine what the results will be when winter rolls in

Nice runs but remember you are both running low 12s with 117mph traps same track same night so seems like a draw to me?

Also keep in mind a DCT has a 1-2 car advantage in a rolling race against a step and should MPH better as well, although the ET should be a bit worse for the DCT. Both your traps are sort of pedestrian for the boost & timing levels. Perhaps the weather is holding you guys back?

The JB4 log above, is that the high boost map Prat tested out for one run? I personally don't think it's a good fit for his car. It's meant for those running methanol injection. The shift from 5th to 6th and back to 5th probably wasn't helping that run either. I think he mentioned via email he tried that map for one run and beat you with it? I'll let him clarify there. Looking at the log though I don't like it at all for his car for a few reasons even if it is "faster" than map 7. On the free back end flash it's not able to hold quite as much timing as can be done on our Cobb back end flash at this time. But I expect that will change in the future as we get more time to develop it.

The other issue with his car is his high pressure pump is dropping more than it should be for E70. I've actually suggested he drop down to E50 to offset that and changed his base mapping to E50 before he went to the track yesterday.

Love seeing this kind of performance in hot and sticky weather. No holds bar. No excuses. Just guys out there having fun. Pretty impressive for flash only tuning. I guess thats why modern platforms are standalones and flash tuning. I am glad to see this platform is finally seeing that as well. I just hope the open source project going on doesn't get bastardized like the other one did.

Will be visiting Orlando this winter in Florida along with company. Make sure to have @myates set for when we run, it going to be a very good one, and then we will see what talks will happen after that.

For the record please keep me out of your ego match. I personally could not care less who is the king of the high 11s. Talk to me when you guys are running 11.3s and 123mph+ stock turbo. Click here to enlarge

Glad you're happy with the E50 tune. Is this the finished product or are a few more tweaks still needed?

I trapped 123 full weight 92* and 60% humidity running e50 no meth on stock wheels in a customers 6mt...does that count? Only got one run in his car and had never driven on that clutch...woulda been fun to see what 2-3 more trips down the track could have produced.

I'm heading out tonight Jake. Haven't been back to the track since you revised my E45 map earlier in the year. With the Alpina flash and better tires I have high hopes. I will post results.

However, the last time out temps were in the 40's which actually started hurting traction as it got closer to the 30's. They shut down the track early that night. That's something you don't have to worry about often in Florida.

Yes running 123mph if you want to make a 10 part mini-series about your performance with multiple videos, timeslips, logs, etc, then while I'd probably consider you a narcissist at least everyone can agree 123mph is a good MPH for a factory turbo car. Click here to enlarge

Your signature has so many numbers Click here to enlarge I had to throw something out there to keep up haha...running 123mph in a 6mt with stock rear open diff is definately a quick car.

lol I don't see my signature on account. I forgot about that. I think I listed the records there to refute Shiv's "we hold all the records" signature last year. On your traps you may find with more traction that MPH goes down a couple. Happened in my case anyway. From 125mph down to 122-123mph with a better 60. But anything over 120mph I think is pretty decent. At the end of the day I mainly 1/4 mile for ET (I know I'm probably the only one on the forums) so I'd rather run 11.1@118mph than 11.2@125mph. The MPH sure is fun for the runway races though.

well @terry i did beat him on map6 with that log but didnt realize that when he looked at his log from that particular run he only had 4-5 degree timing so i said i know what his car can do with full timing and he did not have any other log from me so i gave him the heads up to use that particular log since it would have made no difference in results from the way he is pulling on me when hes at his full boost and timing vs me....

all in all the car is def fast on e50 ptf map from a roll

we are going at it again tonight so will have videos from mexico to see if it makes a difference Click here to enlarge

i will be running E50 mix with Octane booster on map 7 to see how well i can hold up against him Click here to enlarge

    hope this clears everything up

No worries. On your tuning I would go back to E50 as we discussed via email and try to find some other way to raise the octane a bit. I'd also caution both of you against against doing repeated 150mph+ pulls on beta tuning. Risky stuff for various reasons.

The DCT is just a great trans for doing rolling runs with so you'll fall behind during those events all else being equal. There is not much you can do about it. But the step should have a big advantage off the line with 2nd gear launches at the track. Your 60' times should be high 1.7s with prep. So if you two are going to have an ego match you should try to exploit what your trans does better and understand what the DCT does better.

You should be able to beat his ET easily. The DCT is hampered by a very poor launch potential. Just get your 60' down to 1.7 on those 2nd gear launches and you'll be in the mid 11s. And just accept it's difficult to keep up with a DCT to 160mph. Maybe you get lucky like you did last run and his timing drops and you motor by him. But if both cars are making the same power he's going to be ahead. The DCT shifts faster, has better gearing, and the DCT tuning does not have the same timing flatline issue the steps have. He's also running a better intercooler. That's just how it goes. Don't blow your car up trying to go more and more aggressive. Just beat him where you can in ET. Click here to enlarge

Also I read somewhere you have an AFE intake? Throw that in the garbage and get our dual cone on there.

LMFAO i already sold that $#@!ty AFe Satge 2 intake believe me the first night i got the stack setup jb4/cobb i went under my hood and took it off and put on the BMS DCI Click here to enlarge my reason was i wanted more air sucked in and BMS DCI is way more open than Afe for air flow but little do i know that it also made a difference in performance i def felt and saw logs where my boost would hit target easily and not have any gap at all as oppose to when i had Afe intake i would see target and actual boost to be little off.....
