    Evolve e9x supercharger

As you guys know, we recently had the opportunity to upgrade Steves M3 with one of the first Evolve E9x M3 Supercharger kits. Great work by the guys @evolve; incredible quality and overall fantastic experience with it.

He had a chance to run an equal kit a few days ago. Both cars DCT, both 6 PSI,both catless,no meth, etc etc. Cant get any more equal than that:

Having driven his car on numerous occasions, its apparent that this video (and soon to post dyno's Click here to enlarge ) show exactly why the Rotrex Supercharger was chosen. TQ,down low in the rpms, plenty of it, and totally smooth.

Even with the other car getting on the gas earlier, the Evolve kit, not only stopped the other cars initial pull, but put a car length on it. The topend of the rotrex matches the vortech so thats where the cars stayed throughout the whole run as you can see from this spectator shot.

If we know steve as well as we think we do, you can expect plenty more Evolve S/C vids in the near future.

I probably run as much boost as you do fuel pressure

Thanks for sharing the videos and good job on the install. Hopefully some more coming your way soon. The Rotrex really shines low end as well as top end and this is the reason why we chose it.

I must say that working with Evolve has been nothing short of spectacular. The support and communication is key. This was such a great kit that even without completed instructions, installation was spot on. Couldn't be happier.

Apples to apples to E90/E92 M3 S65 V8 supercharger kit race comparison - Evolve Automotive versus ESS-Tuning supercharger kits

Direct E9X M3 supercharger comparisons are had to come by. When one person wants to compare a kit to another and posts a question on a forum the answer to that question will differ based on what forum the person is asking it on instead of the actual technical merits of the kit. You ask the question on a forum where tuner X has X installed kits X amount of people say it's the best. Person Y chimes in that they have Y option and it all degenerated into an X versus Y flame fest with no answers, lot's of insults, and dynochart/sales number racing.

Well this is actual racing. Two supercharger kits for the S65 V8 and both with centrifugal blowers. Both have different tunes, different intake manifolds, but roughly the same boost pressure at 6 PSI which will vary with supporting mods (exhaust, manifold, etc) but this is about as close to an apples to apples real world comparison people are going to get.

The first video is an inside view but the single angle does not give a good view of where the other M3 is in relation. It clearly shows the black (Evolve) supercharged M3 in front though. The second video gives a better idea and is an external view although from a distance. The race is close, as it should be, with the Evolve car taking the win, as it should.

Why? The ESS-Tuning kit is Vortech V3si based which is a great blower that offers great peak power. The Evolve Engineering kit uses a Rotrex C-38 based blower with a different impeller design that offers greater mid-range. At 6 psi, the V3si is not at the efficiency range to show its top end CFM airflow advantage over the Rotrex blower. At this power level and boost level, on the stock engine internals, the Rotrex seems to be better matched to the motor offering greater area under the curve. Peak dyno figures do not tell the whole story as the race illustrates.

Additionally, keep in mind there are two skill levels of tuning at work here. The Evolve car is partially designed to showcase the Evolve kit in the United States. Regarding the tuning skill at work, Evolve has shown the ability to improve on ESS tunes. The results linked in the previous sentence are from a third party but show a difference in skill level.

Evolve is based in the UK and has a leg up in that market and more supercharger kits in that market than anyone else. ESS has had their kit on the market in the USA longer. Regardless, sales figures do not equate to performance. They equate to marketing on certain forums. Both are great supercharger kits and the difference in all honesty comes down to a drivers race. How they achieve their performance and what the cars are like to drive including what you get for what you pay should be the deciding factor.

A lot of words for a short simple race video (longer race would be preferred also not on what appeared to be a slick track surface) but when it comes to M3 supercharger kits the cars should really be doing more talking. That has not happened. It's a shame marketing and certain websites that care more about the advertisers do such a disservice to genuine information.

    Take a look for yourself.

Really wish we had a good side by side view to tell how the race played out, the grandstand view doesn't really show anyone pulling. Either way, the Evolve kit looks to be the business.

ive seen and have videos of rickys old white ess car anally raping my 135 that trapped 120 while beating a FBO GTR with e85 tune that trapped in the 130s...

the 4 door had the 600 kit I think , I am not sure of the boost or whp that produces but I think there are faster examples out there.

rickys car wouldnt do that in this heat, and that GTR was not running very well, and blew a week later.. but rickys car was fast for the time he had it
ive gone from 118-123 mph from these conditions to cold good air on the other kit.. just like the 625 kits went from 118-124 from hot/bad-good/cold air
just like the 650 kits went from 125/127-132 in another - 2-3k ft DA

its all about our huge swing in conditions

the ESS600 see's 6 psi just like me, thats why we are so close, its the smooth and early income of boost by the rotrex that gets the lead and keeps it there.
I would assume, using experience and an educated guess that me and him would be in the 122-124mph range in this heat/that day. The tuned turbo S ran 127-128 and put about 2-3 cars on me.

The Vortech kits make good power up top, thats not the really issue here.. its everything under 7k RPM.. this is why i kept the car and Evolved it (sorry AA, love you guys, great work, this just fits me a bit more).

I talked to this guy after this run, and he said he didnt like the same things i sold my kit for, its just slow when not WOT and 7K+ rpm. I told him to take my car for a ride and he said no thanks, hes already on the fence now to swap it out.. the car is streetable, you dont notice the boost coming in, its just power available, early, plenty and smooth.. i dont have the advanced vocabulary to express how superior this kit is.. but that doent change the fact that it is..

Kieth's GTR was down a bit in one cyl and a little tiny bit , it never blew up despite what he says to everyone, that car was running FINE that day, I was in it and drove it that day.... made ZERO noise, he lost and started blaming his motor... period...

he blamed his cars motor on the fact his tuner couldn't get the timing he wanted to stick. etc...

Rickys car was faster than that ess 600 by a LARGE margin... i am sure of that

It's crazy how much bickering goes on with supercharger kits and the e9x m3 platform. Take LM's opinion how you wish but he has owned both a ess car and now evolve. I would think he is a pretty good person to compare the kits and feeling of them. How many other m3 owners have owned two kits?

Vendors will always say their kit is superior, that's why forums like this with unbiased opinions are valuable.

LM go run some other blown m3's so we can get more data!

not being a d;ck just stating my observations... weather was the same for both cars the day at jones beach and the track day... i am not that educated on the difference in kits so pardon that... I just thought that ess car was underperforming... I didnt really catch much of your car as I got there at noon

The FBO 335 looked like it ran pretty even with the ess600 car and that should NOT happen

ok, if you say so, but i just recall him saying it was down and needed a rebuild, which was conformed by other well known gtr owners

ive seen n54's do work against blown m3's and they couldnt catch up until 140+.. you just dont hear about those stories because its bad for business, and for some reason, people will defend whatever company they chose to buy into so they dont hurt their egos by admitting they got beat..
