Congrats to AMS and the new GTR World Record

    http://www.gtrlife.com/forums/topic/...and-vbox-data/

They were shooting for 7's, but was cut short by technical difficulties with the track causing them to close up early. They hit 8.259@185.18 and a 1.462 60ft. 7's coming soon since they usually hit 1.3 60ft usually.

I've been contemplating a used GTR for my next car. There are some crazy things going on with that platform these days.

I believe I read that they are beating UR's record in the 1/4mile and also in 60-130 times.

Both of these cars (GTR & Lambo) turn into money pits when you look to run sub-9.... Basically looking at nearly $200k between the actual motor, trans, drivetrain, labor & tuning by the time you're finished, PLUS the initial cost of the car

While the GTR isnt cheap to build it is no where near the cost of building a lambo so I wouldn't lump them together. I will soon be building my gtr to sub 9 second levels and will be spending about 100k and really I could probably do it with 15k-20k less than that if I wanted to. Still a good chunk of money but you'll be faster than 99% of street cars out there including all but the fastest lambos and you'll be more reliable than the lambos. Why do you think they dont launch their cars? Drive train wont hold up, sure they have a few videos out at a strip but those are record runs usually done by UGR not their customers out having fun on their own. And before someone says that lambo owners" arent into drag racing"like some smug owners on the forums claim I call bs because roll racing is the same $#@! except without the mechanical risk and without requiring driver skill.

100k in aftermarket money on a GTR gets you ~1,200 BHP. While the GTR (as a car is less expensive), with the same 100k you can get a UGR Stage 3 Package, putting down over 1,000 WHEEL HP.

The GTR def has a larger aftermarket clientele, and it shows in some of the vital products that the Lambos don't get, specifically a built trans/drivetrain. Because there is no E-Gear upgrade, it seems like a lot of the UGR Lambo owners just beat on their cars and (because they can spend like this) when the trans breaks they just replace the entire thing.

The biggest thing to me is that the TT-Lambos has so much more WOW factor. I've never driven a GTR, but I've been a passenger and it feels very docile. And while I've never been in a Lambo, everytime I see one on the highway it IMMEDIATELY gets my attention.

I'm not sure where your getting your facts from but I will spend just under 100k and will be past 1400WHP. And really I'm being conservative with that #, to make that in a Gallardo you need the 200k package for which the price doesnt guarantee reliability.

Now I KNOW I'm going to get flamed for this but I have been in 1200whp Gallardos and 1200whp GTR's and while I love the looks and sound of the Gallardo way more than the GTR the ride isn't that great and the inside made me miss my GTR. Dont get me wrong the lambos are killer and a few months ago when I bought my GTR I looked at a few older Gallardo's that were the same price as a new GTR and I could have put the 100k in mods in either one (more if needed I just dont have more to do to the GTR) and I think I made the right choice. Not the right choice to show off in, or pull pussy with but the right choice of a monster quick car that is tons of fun when driven right and modded.

Sounds like you're building a monster, make sure to post up the built thread as it goes through the phases

    +1

I never get how people can get so butt hurt over another cars accomplishments? Give credit where credit is due. Say damn that was fast and move on. You may hate the car, but you can't deny that the car is quick.

both cars are crazy fast ( Alpha GTRs & UGR Lambos ) Click here to enlarge

now take both those cars and set them up next to each other and tell people walking by that they can have the keys to either one and drive off....and see which keys they take . the GTRs will be targeted by a younger crowd majority of the time . the Lambo will be targeted by people of all ages all of the time . i know i would prefer the Lambo .

big props to AMS for all they do with this platform Click here to enlarge
