2015 Porsche Macan Turbo spotted testing - Detuned 3.0 liter twin turbo V6 with PDK

The Porsche Macan will come in several trims the most powerful of which will be the Turbo model as often is the case with Porsches. The Panamera S and 4S switched to a turbocharged 3.0 liter V6 from the previous naturally aspirated V8 and this same turbo motor will go in the Macan Turbo. Current reports are that the motor will be detuned for the Macan likely into the 370 horsepower range but mated to a dual clutch transmission.

The Cayenne does not have a dual clutch partially due to the automatic being preferable for towing but Macan interior shots have shown the PDK. Also, with a detuned motor the Macan will not step on the Cayenne Turbos toes (although it will be close) and this will also leave room for a Turbo S model which would then unleash the full 420 horses as seen in the Panamera S. Smart business by Porsche but smart buyers will opt for the standard Turbo and simply change the software just like Porsche.

Expect the new SUV to debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show later this year.

Some details about the Macan engine lineup were leaked at a dealer meeting in Atlanta back in September.

Macan S and Macan Turbo will each receive a twin-turbo V6, the 3.0L as seen in the Panamera S for the Macan S, and 3.6L for the Macan Turbo. $52k base price for the S, $75k for the turbo. Both will have 7-speed PDK.

$23k is a lot to pay for an extra .6L (plus whatever options are standard on the higher model) but the tuning potential of the factory Turbo model seems even more promising with the extra displacement.

Not really. The 3.6 liter motor is interesting and there isn't too much out there about it.
