Audi preparing 650 horsepower production Quattro Coupe surprise to honor the 30 year anniversary of the Sport Quattro at the Frankfurt Auto Show?

Audi, if you do this, you have a convert right here. Hardcore Audi fans will remember the original Audi Sport Quattro developed in 1984 for the legendary (notorious) Group B rally series. The rally racing series with cars deemed too fast and powerful for racing which was outlawed by the FIA in 1986. Motorsport fans have not forgotten Group B which is considered the golden age of rallying and clearly neither has Audi (or their 1984 victory) who is rumored to be preparing something special for the 30th anniversary.

Previously reports stated the Quattro Coupe concept may see production in 2013 to honor 35 years of Quattro. That concept featured a sub 3000 pound car with a 380 horsepower inline-5 TFSI motor borrowed from the TT-RS. Now it is rumored Audi is still aiming for the same curb weight but with the 4.0 TFSI from the RS7/RS6 tweaked to 650 horsepower. Seriously Audi? When did you get balls this big?

Imagine this. An all wheel drive 650 horsepower V8 car with a 2866 pound curb weight and a dual clutch transmission. Carbon ceramic brakes, magnetic dampeners. You want to honor a legend? That's how you do it.

The expected price is $150k which is absolutely fine for the specs. More than fine. The question is, will Audi build it? Will they really do this? And if they do, will they bring it to the USA? Audi, please, build this car. Show the world what you can do just like you did in 1984. Create another legend.

Even if they don't put the 650 hp engine in this chassis, is this chassis supposed to be produced? I love it!

Very awesome. I really hope they build a high hp 5 cylinder though. To me the v8 is the equivalent of a turbo m car.

Let's hope so. That weight even with the 2.5 TFSI inline-5 would be amazing.

The V8 stuff blew my mind I didn't even think it was necessary. The I5 really fits the character more especially considering the car it is honoring. I think the V8 part has to be more off in this than anything else.
