    The new setup-ready for competition!

No secret I'm Naturally Aspirated again, that doesn't mean I cant enjoy the car.
With that said the addition of the @rick@defiv lock-down kit, I'm eager to test what these cars can do without boost.

18x9 square GTS replica setup, +35 offset with 18mm front spacers, 20mm rear
(Front calipers needed some finesse aka shaving- BIG thanks to @undercover )
    Nitto NT555 240/40/18 fronts
    Nitto 555R 285/40/18 Drag Radials (Thanks to @akh23456 )

Its a bit aggressive for such low (comparatively) HP, but hey, it works
Ride quality is GREATLY improved over the 19" setup. I plan on having 3 sets of rims/tires when all is said and done. this 1/4 mile setup, a road course setup (also 18's, maybe with NT01 or RE11's) and a 19" pimpin setup.

Any plans to correct that? Or enjoy the platform for what it can offer and then look at the f82 m?

You can get it to 118 mph naturally aspirated, even more if you stroke it with cams.

It's true. Everything that is great about the S65 regarding its response, curve, etc., is radically altered with the blower. I personally hate the way it drives versus NA but love the top end pull/power.

A twin screw would fit the character more but... it is what it is.

So why does one rarely read about the negative effects of superchargers on this platform?

DCT should handle it, I know that Turner Motorsports is running a Stroker/DCT combo

Only downside to a Stroker S65 is it's a very permanent modification

Or a very expensive other option is to keep a spare s65 around.

Everyone has this inherent desire to protect/justify their purchase- i bought a cheap kit to satisfy my hp needs and AVOID s/c drama; heh, i see where that got me. Im used to promote when i do good with the kit, and immediately an asshat when i talk about its shortcomings.

notice the HP of the car, and likely chp, not rwhp.

I am curious about this too... @LostMarine, gear it down/differential + kill your primary cats + get some brakes = awesome track car... I am curious what you think of your first outing...

I need to get back into it - I have an awesome race course (some say best in the USA - Road America) within 4 hours of me... It's been too long.

I am not sure if this is accurate, as I thought it was lower - but this is the DCT from the M3: http://www.getrag.de/en/253

It looks like it holds 750 nm - which is 550 ft-lbs of torque. I am SURE there is more to it than this, but I don't think too many people are going to get anywhere near that amount with a stroked S65.

The dct can handle more tq, the magic and so far shortcoming is that you need to program the dct to change it's shift characteristics so it "knows" there is more tq. The hydraulic shifting is smooth and crisp when stock. Someone needs to rewrite the software for the dct to handle increased hp/tq over stock...and that's the problem...so far no one can do that. Changing clutch packs won't do it, someone needs to figure out the programming, reach the stock clutch limits....then change out the clutch packs, if it's even necessary.

Fair, I'm looking at some VAC 4.4L Stroker Dynos now. The 1st one is producing upwards of 500 Ft Lbs of TQ on 100 octane (which means even more on straight E85), BUT it's also got a raised compression (OEM = 12.0:1).

This second one looks a little more tame, most HP you could prob get without FI on pump gas (very minor change to the CR) and you're below the TQ created by a 650HP supercharged S65.

You would never make enough torque with an NA M3 to ever affect the DCT.

uhh.. supercharged S65's only make 100 more tq, so its not a huge jump..

Ya and they don't ruin the clutch discs instantly or anything. You launch a bunch with 100 more torque or 100 less torque you will consume a consumable item.

The clutches will hold way way more than people think.

rights its consumable, so even N/A its going to wear. 100wtq is not huge difference, if someone can wreck it in 3 weeks at 350tq, then 260tq is only a bit longer life, given equal treatment
