    Kline Innovation releases lightweight Inconel 9.1 kg Porsche 997 Turbo exhaust and lightweight inconel headers/manifolds - 50 pound weight savings

    Wow, some super impressive work from Kline Innovation based out of England here for the Porsche 997 Turbo. The exhaust and manifolds/headers you see below are made out of inconel 625 grade metal which is a name for metal alloy used in high temperature applications making it perfect for an exhaust system. This metal is corrosion and oxidation resistant but difficult to work with and shape meaning someone with some serious skill is needed to make a quality exhaust using the material.

    Well, Kline Innovation did just that releasing an exhaust that weighs just 9.1 kilograms or 20 pounds. Very, very light. How about the manifolds? Try just 1.6 kilograms or 3.5 pounds. These pieces together should offer weight savings over just over 50 pounds from the stock system, incredible. Shaving weight from the rear of a Porsche 911 is rarely a bad thing due to the inherent rear bias.

    What about the power gains? Unfortunately, no dynos were provided. What about the cost? No pricing info. This won't come cheap, that is for sure. Simply enjoy pictures of these works of art.

    Pretty.

    Inconel isn't any lighter than stainless, so I'd assume everything is quite thin. I wonder if the exhaust would sound kinda tin-can'ish because of that? Interesting making the flange out of two thinner sheets and tacking them together; not ideal but probably much better for cost. Definitely looks like they took the effort to back purge the welds, and the tube to flange welds look very nice.

    All good questions.

    I'd like to hear it. The thinner metal might give it a more exotic sound. The 997 turbo really doesn't sound all that great IMO.
