Audi 4.0 TFSI acceleration figures and specs (curb weight, skidpad) from standard 2013 D4 A8L - 0-60 in 4.2, 1/4 mile in 12.5@110
Audi simply continues to impress with their 4.0 TFSI motor. Just a couple months ago we saw how potent the S8 with the 4.0 TFSI is capable of 11's in the 1/4 mile stock with an email@example.com. The A8L long wheel base with the standard 4.0 TFSI motor at "only" 420 horsepower is no slouch either. Edmunds testsed the A8L and recorded a 0-60 of 4.2 seconds (S8 does the same spring it in 3.5) and 1/4 mile of 12.5@110.
That is some serious speed out of an extended wheelbase luxury sedan. Even the handling is impressive with slalom numbers at 65 mph and the skidpad at .83g. All of this is a 4,693 pound all wheel drive extended wheelbase premium luxury sedan. Excellent work Audi, simply phenomenal.

Smooth rush of power, with quick upshifts in Drive. Found the "Audi quick shift" mode with transmission in Sport and a bit of power braking. Still, turbo lag below 3,000, but upshifts become incredibly quick and abrupt, gaining 0.6 second. Manual shifting is via paddle shifters. Does not hold gears to rev limiter, blips throttle on downshifts. Braking comments Very firm brake pedal with excellent feel. Stops were reasonably short considering how heavy the A8 L is. First stop was by far the shortest at 114 feet. Fifth stop (out of six) was the longest at 119 feet. Handling comments "Skid pad: Nothing to write home about here: lots of punishing understeer, even in Dynamic suspension mode. Chassis wasn't overly accepting of drop-throttle to dial it out. It needs to have a little lazier and more relaxed powerband for this type of market. If you want more, there is the S8.
I mean this thing is basically equal to an E92 M3, that's impressive.
