4.0L whipple R&D has begun for the V

As the title states the 4.0L whipple R&D has started...vendor sent me pics...it mounts on but looks like the hood is gonna have to raised 1.76 inches

this blower should be good enough to push a stock cube LSA over the 1000+ whp mark on just its own boost with no nitrous or anything...the 2.9 will only be good for about 850-900whp on stock cubes

apparently the TT kits are nightmares for the V.....found out hennesey and another shop who have done them had to cut notches out of the frame to make the lines and turbos all fit....

I think a 2.9 with good heads/cam and forged shorty will do wonders for a V... I would love a 6spd wagon so equipped.

im sure the V as is with the built motor and some heads will hit 900whp no problem (the V did 706whp with a 9.9afr and only 17.5 deg of timing)....hell it may be able to do 1001whp as well but i bet my bottom dollar that 1001whp run will have me spinning the 2.9 out of its efficiency range while the 4.0 is gonna be right at home pushing that much air into the motor

    4.0 liters is huge. Huge.

Why even go bigger with the cubes? Unless it can be done through stroke. I wouldn't want to bore it if I'm going for a ton of boost.

I think you should max your potential with the 2.9 and wait for the bugs/engineering issues to be ironed out with the 4.0swap. The 4L is massive and at least on GT500's they need to lower the chassis to get hood clearance or get insanely big hoods to cover it. Its not elegant IMO. Not sure what the plan for the V will be or if your current hood will work with it but I would wait.

Thats just one bug the others will be belt wrap, snout issues as its a lot of pressure on the crank... Fuel rails & injector fitting along with any ancillary component capability that blower usually requires moving things around to make it fit. It will be pricey for a elegant one stop solution. I wonder why the 3.4L isnt being tried its a nice compromise on size, boost, power & fitment.

the plan according to my tuner is to max out the 2.9 and see where it lands....he says im only runing at about 75-80% efficiency on the blower right now at 19-20psi.....ive got about another 6-7 psi left to go and he wants to run it at about 95% and see where the power lands. according to him these are the scenarios in his own words

800whp: on 93 + meth with the built motor - if you can run more boost or have better heads than you had last time you were here, yeah

900whp: on racegas + meth with the built motor - if you can run more boost or have better heads than you had last time you were here, yeah, and probably more like 860-875rwhp

1000whp on racegas with the built motor and a 150 shot - Pretty much, yeah. And, prepare to break $#@! if you plan on using this much power.

    Mike

if im happy with the power it makes at that point then no need to go to the 4.0L....if im still power hungry then according to him THATS when i ditch the LSA and go 427 LSX with the 4.0L he can guarentee 1200whp all day long on pump and meth

Thats what I would do.. forget subtle.. if you have the power to back it up, might as well flaunt it.
