Nissan GT-R runs 7:18 Nurburgring laptime with upgraded 2013-2014 model

This thing somehow manages to defy the laws of physics. I don't get it.

the 2013/2014 nissan gt-r has set a new record lap time of 7 minutes and 18 seconds on the nurburgring nordschleife, more than eight seconds faster than its old 7:26:70 time of 2009. The japanese believe that after setting the lap time, they can do even better by using a new track edition 2013/2014 model.

Chief engineer kazutoshi mizuno said there’s “quite a bit of margin” in the car’s current time for the 20km-long green hell. He stated that the new track edition gt-r might be good for a time under seven minutes, which sounds quite surreal if you consider the difference is over 18 seconds.

The new track edition features a roll-cage and it lost most of the interior exposing the bare metal, but features the same engine as the regulation gt-r. The 550 horses of its engine make contact with the pavement using dunlop slick tires, developed especially for the gt-r.

This car is a robot sent from the future. It probably runs Skynet.

Very quick indeed, still a couple production cars ahead of it.

If they are able to pull a sub 7min lap time as the article states, now that is bonkers.

Every time I see one on the road I'm staring at it, even though the styling is so-so, it has a certain presence to it.....

I agree, it's weird how Nissan engineers build one car that crushes all. Why can't they make the z more appealing (in stock form)?

Ehhh I had a 350z, i liked it, but it's nothing close to a s4 or 335 in build quality, I'm sure the 370 is better but I really didn't like the interior fit/finish of the 350z. Also the paint was cheap, you breathe on it and there is a rock chip, i never got so many rock chips on a car.

    The 370Z is a major improvement, I didn't like the 350 either.
