    04 Mallett CTS-V

So I love my 335i but as a hobby I do a lot of classified browsing and test drives. A came across a CTS-V recently that was being advertised as a "Mallett" CTS-V. I had never heard of "Mallett" but after some research I found that these are some pretty serious upgrades and not cheap ones either. I've emailed the VIN to Mallett to make sure this is a legit "Mallett" build. Assuming that it is, do you guys consider this a good deal and how much whp does the C5R 7.0L (427CID) engine put out?

You can get that motor to 427 definitely but no idea what that particular car is putting out.

It could be up over 500 wheel, hard to tell.

Here is some more info on the car - looks like with the catalytic converters, he is making 476 at the wheels. I can't imagine how cool that car would be to drive - the C5R is an awesome race engine. Not sure about such a heavy car with this engine, but to each their own.

Not bad for a N/A motor for sure. I've already ordered Vargas ST2 turbos though so I'll prob just stick with the 335i. If it was a little more WHP I might make the switch. I was definately intrigued when I saw it on autotrader. Should be a nice pick up for someone.

C5R has a 5.5 liter... it really has nothing much to do with this.

Great car and Mallet does a great deal of work on GM products from Blown Escalades to Vettes to Camaros to the CTS V. In addition to a really cool LS based swap from teh Solstic/Sky platforms. They competed in a few Car & Driver super car tests years ago. Cant recall the results... In any case that car is a fun toy for sure.

I recall seeing a challenge with a Mallett CTS-V years ago, I almost feel like it took first place but can't find anything on it?

Yeah, you are right. I don't know why the post said this - "It is a genuine C5R race unit with a billet reciprocating assembly" - I am guessing that's Mallet's engine code? Regardless, pretty cool - although not my chassis of choice.

Ahh, that's what it is... I think it's the C6.R that is 5.5 liters, and the C5R is 7.0/427cui. Looking at Mallett's website - it's definitely using the C5R block:http://www.mallettcars.com/ctsv-conversionoptions.htm

I don't know why I was thinking C6R instead of C5R. The C5R started as a 6.0 liter but then they went to 427 but it was Katech who built it.

Do it!! Test driving the hell out of new/used cars is one of my favorite weekend activities. Lol

I ran the heck out of a brand new DCT M6 the other day. My friend that rolled up to BMW with me and I keep laughing about how hard I drove it.The younger salesman didn't give a damn and seemed to enjoy it. Haha
