Atco last night - ran my stock 2012 CTS-V

It was a spur of the moment decision but I decided to make the trip to Atco last night. Weather was certainly agreeable which made my decision to go easier.

I went to get a few baseline runs before I begin modding. Currently my V is a totally stock automatic and all runs were made on the stock street tires. Other than icing the supercharger lid and lowering tire pressure I ran the car like it came off the showroom floor.

Due to circumstances out of my control(two oil spills), I was only able to make three runs. This was my first time out to the track with the V so I was unsure of throttle sensitivity and proper launch technique. The fact that street tires were in the mix didn't help matters either.

After about an hour wait our lanes were finally called. I slowly inched my way up to the burn out box, my heart was pounding with anticipation. I disabled traction control, did a decent burn out and staged, my heart was still pounding. The lights dropped and I left off idle thinking it would help limit wheel spin. I feathered the throttle and in the distance the timing tower flashed up a 2.04 60' and honestly I was a little disappointed. I finished the run and headed to the timing shack to pick up my slip, 12.33 @ 117.31. Not bad and my disappointment quickly turned to excitement.

My second run was a total failure, too much wheel spin and I thought shifting in manual mode would help, I was wrong.

Finally, after two oil spills were cleaned up we were called for the last time. This time I launched at about 1000 rpm and on my final run of the night I put down an impressive 12.18 @ 118.98 with a crappy 2.02 60' time.

The DA varied from -200 to -990 from my first to last run.

On the ride home all I kept thinking was "only if I had a set of drag radials."

Good run indeed... Dan runs his car tomorrow I believe on street tires it will be interesting to see the time/trap speeds with his mods in place.

    Thanks.

His et's are probably not going to be the best with street tires but I'm thinking his trap speed should be high 130's. Too bad I have to miss it.

Now that's a good stock time.

1.8 60 foot and you could do some real damage... 11's and maybe 119-120?

A set of drag radials and I'm confident it's an 11.8 at 119 in the same weather.

Nice runs man! Amazing time & trap for your first time at the track in it. So automatic mode yielded these results?

I went down to the Texas Mile yesterday.. Sooo many CTS-V's. It was crazy, I'm almost inspired to grab one..

    Thanks.

Yes, I left it in automatic sport mode. It shifts quicker and holds the gear longer in this mode.
