    2012 Porsche 911 Turbo S PDK (997.2) runs 10's in the 1/4 mile stock - 10.9@125.5

    The PDK transmission does wonders for the new Porsche models and the 911 Turbo is no exception. How does a stock 10 second car sound? Well, that is exactly what the 997.2 Turbo S is capable of. Insideline tested the car at 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and through the 1/4 mile at 10.9@125. Launch control certainly helps as without it they only managed an 11.5@124 which is still blazing fast. Simply spectacular performance from a bone stock car.

    Acceleration:
    Launch control brings revs to 5,000 rpm, then bam! It rockets off the line, with just a bit of front wheelspin. There's even more time to gain if it didn't shift early, sub-6,000 rpm for the 1-2 because it senses too much spin. Ultra-quick upshifts. Manual shifting via console lever (pull back for downshifts) or steering wheel paddles. Will hold gears to rev limiter if not at full throttle. Blips throttle on downshifts.


    Braking:
    Completely solid and stable, absolutely no fuss. Almost zero nosedive. Pedal is very firm, stayed so throughout. First stop was the longest at 105 feet. Third stop (of six) was shortest at 102 feet.


    Handling:


    Skid pad:
    Normally the skid pad isn't much fun. In this car, it is. Even minor changes in throttle bring the tail out slightly, making it easy to keep the 911 Turbo S right on the line, despite the fact that the front end feels so light.


    Slalom:
    Excellent steering feel, intuitive turn-in. Even though this is a car with its engine hanging off the back, it stayed planted and never got overly out of shape, except for a bit of power-on oversteer at slalom exit. There would've been more oversteer at exit, but turbo lag kept the power from hitting instantly when I nailed the throttle.

    Great numbers. These things will their launch control can break your neck. Don't like the look though, not after 991 introduce and specially in that color. Black suits this car the best.

    It looks great IMO. The 991 will be better looking, sure, but not really radically different.

    I know. They look like each other, but i don't know why one looks modern while the other looks outdated.

    Majority of new cars owners just wants fast cars with having peace in mind that if something goes wrong they can get their money back.

    With the pdk not liking to go way over stock power, I would want that warranty too. I park next to a turbo s every day. I plan on hitting 600hp and know that my manual will never touch the pdk from a dig. I have seen the new 991 next to the 997 and its takes an experienced eye to see the difference. Its why I love this car, takes for ever to get an outdated look.
